Murder implies a moral standing for an animal that is drawn as resembling that of human life.
You cannot 'murder' an animal, for they are never to be considered morally equal to even the most base human being.

whats most interesting is the trooper's mic-up dash cam video on Youtube before the slaughter. The trooper appears to be getting orders or advice from a Game and Fish officer who's in Maumelle he says, which is about 30 minutes away and says he'll head that way when he's done loading a boat. Both of them are talking casually, not realizing the incident will go viral and they both show a lot of compassion for the geese and realization of possibility of a crash.
What's unsettling to me is the public's social media reaction when you consider the emotional people vs the common sense people.
