Think of it like this. If I'm in my car going down the highway and for some reason, beyond my control, my brakes fail. The smart thing to do is to take my foot off the gas. It may not totally solve my problem, but it will forestall the inevitable conclusion to my dilemma. It may even lessen the impact and make the conclusion survivable. If I pretend the brakes are fine and I don't take my foot off the gas, I seal my fate.
Your metaphor is good. But you’re interpreting it the wrong way. Everyone is trying to stop the inevitable. You can try to reduce your impact by taking your foot off the gas. But the real solution is to take the steps to lessen the blow of a crash and try to get yourself to safety. We need to prepare for the climate changes that will occur. Oceans will rise, temperatures will change. The game of survival isn’t stagnant, and we need to prepare for the future. Everyone is fixated on the past and the present, but the survivors will work for the future

I like your reference CAD. Did you know Andy Serkis is making a movie of it with Netflix?

That's awesome. I love pics of nature.

The problem is although you took your foot off the gas, the a-hole next to you still has his foot on the gas. And doesn't care.

No. I just patronized your smug, childlike devotion to dogma.
I think you tried to do this, but you instead disproved the point you were going for by using contradicting facts.

Our planet is currently in a moderate period,
In fact, we're in an inter-glacial period - the Earth has been ice free many times in the past, well prior to any sort of carbon emissions by mankind. Glaciers have been generally receding since the end of the last Ice Age.
Alarmists take 150 or so years of (manipulated/fudged/impossible to compare with modern readings, etc.) data and try to project out hundreds of years like this is a closed system with 1 input - carbon. This is transparent because in 2019, carbon is a proxy for energy production. If you can control energy production (and, by extension, usage), you control that person or nation.
Period.

While I was hoping this wouldn't turn into a politard thread, I will offer up some quotes from C.S. Lewis's Screwtape demon...

It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out.

Tell me more about real Santa Claus. Belief in a composite of multiple apocryphal legends perpetuated by commercial interests is actually perfectly analogous.

I don't know much about him, but it's inevitable that someone was named Santa Clause before...and you're right, he's a legend.
I want to give you the W on this, because I'm sure that guy didn't fly around on a sleigh delivering presents, but I'm also pretty sure he made out with moms.
I'm torn, much like our ozone layer, thanks to climate deniers. I mean, come on...WTF doesn't believe in climate?! Pfff.

It may be real but it has absolutely nothing to do with humans. It’s always changed and there isn’t a damn thing anyone can do about it.
