HEB here in Texas has been on point during all of this. Gave my cashier an extra few bucks today.

When I was a checker 10 years ago the store required us to turn in any tips we received.
Not that I did since i was dumb and viewed it just as an after school job. But you might be putting those workers in a weird spot. Buy them a water or pop from the cooler in the checkout line

I give people that work for me gift cards for Christmas and my essential members of the company take dividends or bonuses during the year

Great thought but the people still having a job are in less need. If you want to hand out money, give it someone that is deemed non-essential.
