LINK

Was planning to build a workshop in my backyard but now on hold due to the price of lumber being what it is. Read an interesting economic paper yesterday saying that we should be concerned about deflation instead of inflation. I will find the link.

I’m not making any major purchases right now. I generally trade my vehicle every 7 years but I’m keeping what I have and making sure it is maintained so it lasts longer.

My Son is a student at UF and graduates (Electrical engineering) this December. Instead of renting, we bought a fixer upper condo with the thought of breaking even and having a stable residence for him. That place has nearly doubled in value in just four years. We’re going to sell it and pay case for a used RV next year so me and the Wife can walk the earth while we’re still able to do it.

On a daily level, we go out to restaurants a lot less frequently. It’s become insanely expensive and service is generally terrible.

I am the yard guy, pool guy, handyman, mechanic and outdoor chef. If I do hire somebody, I do my best to verify that they aren’t a liberal.

I was going to replace my fence, but not at these prices. Will wait until next year sometimes when things are back to normal.

The buying power of your dollar decreases with inflation. You can save $100 in the bank but what will it be worth in a year? They are not slowing down the printing so what will cause deflation other than an economic collapse.

Wife wanted a new SUV, but we’re waiting. It’s insane how much they’ve gone up in the past six months

Someone in this thread said cars aren't affected by inflation

Yes. I would like a new truck but I am holding off. I also was planning to sell my house and build on some land I own but those plans are also on hold.

This.

Paying more for shitty experiences has led to just cooking and staying in

What are you talking about... they say inflation is countered by rising wages. Basically nothing has really changed.

I got ‘lucky’ and bought a car in February and another in April. Prices have steadily risen by about $4-5K on both since then. If I was looking now, I’d have to buy something different.

I’ve been trying to put up a large fence. An 8,000 fence turned into a 15,000 fence really quick. I’ll wait or build it myself eventually

I’ve noticed that food prices have gone up - can’t really cut back on that - so we don’t eat out as much

Will probably put off buying my daughter a car

But we’ve always watched what we spend - just watching it spend faster now
