That's good to know, it'll come in handy next time I need to check the time without anyone knowing.

I wear watches for the fashion aspect of them. I don't believe in time.

This smart watch is $295... Would anyone pay that for this watch?

I look at my watch easily 20+ times a day. If I'm writing, I don't even have to move my head to check the time. I can do it while I'm writing.

Plus, I get annoyed when people call/text/email me. Other than having the internet at my fingertips, I don't like having a cell phone

I'm 26. Tried wearing a watch in HS. Hated it. Haven't worn one since I got sick of the fossil watch I got for Christmas when I was like 15. The get on my nerves, and like the OP said, I have a phone on me at all times.

I have one I wear as ornamental dress up, even when I'm wearing it I look at my phone for the time.

I doubt most people who own watches now strictly have them to check the time. A nice watch is a pretty much must have accessory as an adult male.

I have to have a watch with a second hand for work so there is that.

You really want your nurse to bust out her iPhone out of her pocket and use the stopwatch feature on it when she is assessing your child's pulse? Or simply glance at her watch and start counting?

When fishing, I exclusively wear a watch for time. Phone stays in the dry box for emergencies, or to piss ppl off who aren't fishing.

I use the stopwatch on my iPhone checking a patient's pulse when the nurse has the pulseox devise and I don't want to search the hallways for her. Patients have never complained. Most patients or patients parents are looking at their phones while with me FWIW.

Pussy.

I'll double that.

I'll go an even hundred if it'd an automatic. That's cash money. Think of all the paid apps you could put on that phone for $100. Make that phone useful as a mu-fug!!!

I can appreciate professional requirements, especially in medicine. In my job, I'd be useless without mobile devices.

I can understand a watch as an accessory, but that is not me. I wear a company polo and khakis every day but Friday, and I wear no jewelry. That's just me, though.

is this supposed to be sarcastic?

there are plenty of situations where pulling out your phone isn't appropriate.

Not so subtle brag, Mr. "I have $40 to spend on a watch." Meet me at the McDonald's on Burbank and I'll fight you for the watch AND your $40

Well from an infection control standpoint I don't want to be reaching in my pocket for my phone if I'm already gowned, gloved, and masked up in a kid's room that is in isolation due to RSV/HRV/flu/MRSA/whatever.

I know some nurses that don't like to wear watches on their wrist (or are not allowed to...such as in some NICUs) will have a watch thing they attach to their stethoscope instead.

Something like this...
