We spent a week in Manhattan earlier this year. The skunk weed smell varied in strength but was never, ever, absent longer than a few minutes.

Seriously, if it grows from the Earth and is consumed as it is grown, there should not be anything illegal about it. Cocaine and heroin is manufactured through chemical processes not the same

Agreed. It's funny how the potheads roll out the alcohol example every time they talk about weed. If mommy drinks some mimosas before she hits the pickup line, she may hit someone else. But she's not baking her kid in 420 for hours a day (we all know it doesn't just happen in the car.)

When I had to drive to a client into Houston for about a year, I smelled weed on I-10 (doing between 20-60 mph) before 0600 2-3 times a week. I realize there were wake and bakers long ago, and maybe these were people getting off a shift at the Amazon distro center driving home into the city, but good lawd.

I really hope the implication here is not that activities should be illegal if they impact others.

I don’t think freedom is ever a mistake. I don’t care what you smell in whatever city you choose to go to. I live in a tiny town, actually outside of a tiny town, on 5 acres of land. It should be legal for me to grow and consume any plant I see fit, but it isn’t in my state. The fact that city people find it offensive or bothersome should have zero bearing on my freedom sitting on my back porch.

I don’t like it when you dumb fricks leave the city and come out here in mobs to ride your bicycles and clog up the roads. I don’t like it when fat old fricks in new Harley vests ride around making shite tons of noise and disturbing the tranquility of the area. But I don’t want them arrested for their rude, inconsiderate, annoying activities.

We want only half of it. Freedom without the consequences.

And the other version “let me do what I want, but arrest them for doing whatever they want”

I’m ok criminalizing it. As long as alcohol, cigarettes and fast food are criminalized as well.

Meh, alcohol and fast food you can’t really smell whilst casually walking down the street (unless you are around a bunch of drunks). You can smell the BO/skunk weed all over the fricking place from the weed crowd, that I did not ask to smell.

If it doesn’t impact myself, children, or the general public, then I don’t really care too much what you do. If have to change my patterns because a bunch of degenerates can’t take 3 steps without toking up, then why should I suffer for your “freedoms”?

I guess you think alcohol is a lot better than pot.

Back in the day (like the early 80s) people would walk across the parade grounds smoking a joint like no big deal. Is it still like that?

I was at LSU for 4 years in the early 80s and no one was walking around smoking a joint, openly

Did anybody ever figure out how much it impairs driving? I know Colorado didn't before they legalized it.

so the rest of us can go out and not have to smell it please.

Yeah!

Other things I don't want to smell while outside:

Automobile exhaust
Sewer plant
Dryer sheets
Cigars
Exxon
Dog shite
Garbage
Cheap perfume
Diesel exhaust
Cigarettes
Feet
Cat piss
Dow
Onions
Chimney smoke
Sweat

Everyone needs to just stay tf home so I don't smell any of that shite.

I used to toss and turn and wake up all night. I use a THCa vape at night. A couple hits and I sleep like a baby all night.

Anecdotal, and I discovered it's potential as a sleep agent by accident, but it certainly works. Or, instead of being 'trashy' I could get pharmaceutical drugs, or allow lack of sleep to negatively affect my health.
