Are the Ouachita tribes and the Wichita tribes related (Native American history related)?

They sound pretty much the same, just like different spellings of the same word. I looked them up on Wikipedia and they don’t outright say they are part of the same tribal group but their ranges overlap significantly.

Lived on a street named Ouachita once. You should hear people try to pronounce this when ordering something over the phone. That’s 101010 Ohahkeeta.

washita is simply a phonetic spelling of ouachita which was used by english speakers.

I’d imagine most Indians were the same genetically. It’s the cultural differences that would separate them.

Yes, they refer to the same people. Wichita is the English pronunciation and Oachita is the French.
