Why would a pawn shop buy anything at market?
Posted on 3/9/20 at 5:50 pm to theantiquetiger
So you can get a good deal but Pawn Shops cannot? May take him 10 years to resell it.

Bigger scumbags are people who steal crap and try to sell it to pawn shops

typical experience at pawnshops, try jewelry stores but they too will try to rip you off
I had an old silver dollar I wanted to sell
went to 4 jewelry shops advertising they buy gold and silver
prices I got for it were $23, $26, $28, and $54
there are a few honest dealers out there but it may take a bit of searching since most are like used car salesmen trying to rob you

Lol. I’m not defending the guy by any means, but obviously you don’t know how a pawn shop works. They don’t pay market value for anything. Lol
Bingo we have a winner...

Only suckers and thieves sell stuff to pawn shops

They buy lawnmowers and pressure washers I take in trade in, that are not worth putting money into for resale.
When I have a high risk customer they will finance them.

Lot of people here that don't understand how a business makes a profit.

If there is an item everyone is paying $1.00 for and I sell that item. If someone comes to me to sell their item to me, which I will then resale for $1.. I am not giving them $1 for it.
You think he is going to buy it at market value then turn around and sell it for more than its worth?

I mother fricking love when the first reply of the thread is the best reply in the thread.

Why buys silver in general?

They make an offer. You can make a counter offer. Some places might not NEED it, but if someone is willing to sell it at a cheap price they will buy it. Then they can turn around and flip it. That's just business. That's not really "ripping" anyone off.
The places that offer more than others have a reason why they are offering more.

Who buys silver at market value in BR?
Nobody. And who would?
Who are they going to sell it to above market value?
You clearly don’t understand the mechanics of a pawn shop do you.

Market value is what someone is willing to pay. So, whatever he was willing to pay at that moment was your silver's market value.

Bro, do you even buy lbs of gold?
