I've always changed my own oil, so I never had this problem. Usually costs me around $15-$20

You seem like an idiot if you actually think I was being serious and not joking. Before you go all environmental on me I bring used oil to Autozone if you must know.

It's a business...a tough one w low margins. I totally get the convenience and have used them when I was travelling alot.

Now I'm older w a shop and I enjoy changing the oil and maintaining my cars. Full synthetic only and good filters, 5000 miles. If you do it yourself w multiple cars on a regular basis, it doesn't take more than 20 mins. I've done it enough such that I've memorized the size of the oil plugs for our daily drivers.

I change my on oil, using the best synthetic oil and best filters and it cost me $40. I like to take an hour and examine my exhaust, suspension and drivetrain.
Then clean the undercarriage and the engine area.

You can always find cheap oil places, only people who charge $60 are dealerships and five minute oil change places if you get synthetic.

We use the local Toyota dealer; full synthetic oil change, multi point inspection, car wash and vacuum for 44.95 and we get it done every 10,000 miles.

I always did my own, but I found a place that charges $18.99. I'll never touch another oil drain plug.

When people change their own oil, what do they do with the old oil.

The real ratchet is all 2011 and newer Chevys requiring that you use dexos oil or it voids the warranty. If you use anything that isn't dexos GM will not do any recall work for free.

Bring it to wherever you bought the new oil.

Just about every synthetic blend or better is Dexos certified nowadays.

Or the fact 2011 chevy's burn a crap ton of oil. Chevy won't do full recall but will change piston rings after you have oil consumption monitoring. Pain in my arse

I take mine to Autozone. Most automotive stores have a recycle drum out back that you can dump used oil in.

I got charged by the dealership $9 for not having an OEM plug. Last time I took it to a 5 min place so I guess they changed it. Not sure why they would change it since it seemed like the dealership would have reused the OEM plug but not the other one?

No idea, it's a racket though. I had 9 recalls services. Piece of shite.

My Ford dealership for some reason has a coupon for the works (Synthetic oil change, tire rotation, brake inspection and fluid top-off) on their website where it's $25 and they haven't taken it off there since I bought my truck from them and I use it every single time.

I can only imagine how much I've saved from that shite.

No offense, but you have to be pretty retarded to blow one engine, much less two.

I've blown three. One in a car that had a bad oil leak and I over reved it. (I was 15)

The second and third were in the same car. The second I was mud riding and did too much, and it cracked a head (not a total blown, but I had to pull the motor) the third time it blew while driving. Out of no where, had oil and all.

Oh shite, there is a fourth, I forgot. I had a Prelude and was racing my friend's 3000GT (it was 1999) and I was at top speed and went to drop back into fourth and I went to second, I popped the clutch and the engine exploded.

That was the first car i changed my own engine, I forgot.

Well I haven't blown an engine since I have been old enough to drink

I have collection containers. When they are full I put them in the truck and bring them to the trash pick-up place on David drive, they have a motor oil recycling tank there, you just dump it in. They take bad gas too. I like to have a lot of gas on hand, and even with stabil I don't trust it after so long.

I sometimes bring it to Walmart or Autozone as well, but I generally dump trash enough that I just bring it when I go to the dump.

Not really a racket, pretty much all synthetic oil meets that standard.
