If it’s important for the officers that are actually aware of things, also known as people, I don’t mind.

But it’s a use of government money and I bet the officers would rather have a bit extra pay than spending money on a dog funeral.

Not at all. Probably more warranted than the hoopla for these phony politicians that croak

So uhh, you're saying the officer is using the dog to gain legal probable cause? And you don't like it?

No. They protect and serve, and are trained from pups to do so. They often go in first in order to flush out prospective criminals placing their lives in danger.

There was an OT thread a few years back where nearly everyone admitted that they would allow a stranger to die to save their dog. It was pointed out that children comprise roughly 1/3 of the world's population... Didn't matter. The OT loves dogs, brah. The downvotes will be great in number, OP.

Times? How many times has this happened to you?

No. Considering the amount of training these dogs go through, the dedication they have to purpose, and the sacrifice of their life/sole, they deserve every bit of recognition. Also, they are more loyal than people.

When I was in the military, our bomb dogs would do everything with us, even fast rope. I always felt they should have been treated like one of us in their death, but sadly, all they got was a flag draped helo ride. No hero flight for them.

Yes, it is stupid. I love dogs they are awesome and truly man’s best friend. But at the end of the day they are just a animal not a human.

A police dog is a police officer.

Funerals aren’t for the dead. They’re for the living.

If you don’t think they’re appropriate, don’t attend.

There are far greater things for you to get your jimmy rustled over.

No I don't think so. They're seen as legit members of the force.

This year 2 police dogs had to be shot because they bit their handlers and wouldn't let go. The dogs still made the dog as tion of Officer Down Memorial Page.

If the criminal shoots a police dog, he increases his chances of the cops dusting him off.

but its not, its for the survivors of the person who died
