Settle a debate. I say anxiety is just fear something bad will happen. Fear is fear.

So how is fear different from anxiety?

Fear is fear. Anxiety could be a cause of fear, but also could be a cause of other things.

Fear is being scared, frightened.

Anxiety is an expectation something will happen. It's as much uncertainty as it is fear.

Nope. Anxiety attacks are often mistaken for heart attacks. Tight chest, sharp pain, trouble breathing. That's something more than fear.

Isn't being Anxious a mental disorder whereas fear is just fear.

I take Xanax for my anxiety and I drink whiskey for my fear.

Fear has a specific, identifiable cause. Anxiety is just a general feeling of unease that might not have any rational explanation at all.

There's a lot of overlap. Fear is an emotion. Anxiety is the body's physiological response to stress.

As seen with anxiety disorders, anxiety can exist without fear. The physiological response can be inappropriately triggered.

Anxiety is obsessed with control. Fear is the loss of control
