From what little I found they are not admissible in court ?
Your Google-Fu needs work, grasshoppah.
Even though dashcam footage has been used in court cases, Louisiana law has little to say about them. Technically, there are no laws making them legal, and if they do not obstruct a driver’s view, there are no laws prohibiting them.
Precedent has already been set so it would be a pretty extraordinary case which would not allow them.

I have one in both of my vehicles

I didn’t get into the weeds but a google search brought this up.
Dash cam video — as long as it is recorded in a public place, is relevant to the case, and can be authenticated (meaning that it can be proved that the footage is from your camera and recorded at the time of the incident) — is nearly always admissible in court.

She has my son at fault and won’t amend the report even though the damage to the vehicles is physically impossible to happen the way she listed in the accident report. Thanks a lot Mandeville Police Dept
Time to sue the City of Mandeville i guess. I guarantee you do that you will get the right police report.

If you have a camera and are in a wreck, you will be obligated to produce the footage.
Obligated by who? You own the camera and all of the footage on it, regardless of what it captured. If you decide to delete prior to receiving a subpoena, it is what it is.

Ah, found someone who knows nothing about litigation.

Another one who is clueless about litigation.

What a retarded post. When a car wrecked me, the first thing I did was show the cop the video which proved the other car was at fault.

I grabbed a VAVA dual camera one from one of those Bin stores for $7 that I've been using. It shows the road and the cab since I spend a lot of time in BR/NOLA and want the video evidence
It has an app that you can download the videos straight from the dashcam to your phone thru the Dash's wifi signal and I've had zero issues with it in the few years I've had it. It even has "accident alert" that kicks on the camera once there's a loud noise in the area and starts filming.
There are some high end ones that I'd recommend if money isn't an issue tho.
I know that some guys that tow trailers frequently go with high end dashcams that have have a camera for the front and rear glass setup. If I were towing my boat more than a few miles a trip I'd 100% take the plunge on one of these.

If you get one, better be damn sure you don’t screw up, as they can surely be used as evidence against you as well.
You’d have to be absolute water head to allow this to happen. If you let it happen, you deserve whatever you get.

The Garmin Dash cams are nice

I got one when I took a job that puts me in New Orleans two days a week. I got it in the event I get in a wreck or if I happen to be walking in front of my truck when someone shoots me, maybe the camera will help catch my murderer.

WOLFBOX G840S 12" 4K Mirror Dash Cam Backup Camera, 2160P Full HD Smart Rearview Mirror for Cars & Trucks, Front and Rear View Dual Cameras, Night Vision, Parking Assistance, Free 32GB Card & GPS
You place this over your current mirror and power it with a cigarette lighter. My wife has a small hatch back and we fed it thru the ceiling all the way to the back and mounted the backup camera as well. There was a port to plug in by the trunk. It has tools to help remove paneling and to feed cables into hiding spots This was purchased for backup camera purposes, but does also offer front and back recording. Also records while parked.
And for the record, dash cameras are 100% legal. I have a weird thing for watching awful driver dashcam videos and every one of them that involves someone brake checking or trying to get a lawsuit ends with the dash cam driver winning in court.

Actually everything is legal unless there is a law prohibiting it.
The more you know, though.

Who installs these professionally in BTR? I don't want some random wire hanging from my mirror down to a power outlet.

One of our drivers barely tapped a lady. This Kling-on got out of the car and looked fine. She had a scratch about 1 inch long on her bumper. Weeks later we get a call from the insurance company saying she’s suing for injuries.
We have dash camera’s and he barely, I mean barely hit her but a sleaze bucket law firm out of Shreveport is suing us. The claim lady told me that this firm is notorious for these kinds of bogus lawsuits. frick lawyers and frick naggers.

All of the ambulance chasers in Louisiana have convinced Joe Q Public that car accidents and suing insurance companies is their golden ticket. I blame the attorneys more than anyone.

Thing was, it was at a stop light. They were both stopped, 2 cars in front of her went and she didn’t. The driver tapped her. Now it was his fault but he was going 5 mph when he hit her. It’s such bullshite.

Dumb question, do the one you plug in draw down the battery when parked?

I love how the uninformed self-impose made-up legal rules on themselves to their detriment.
