I've never understood how cyclists would ever feel safe cycling on those roads. I honestly understand the driver frustration.

I can speak personally that I'm not scared of cars on the road because just as much as I don't want to be hit and thrown off my bike and injured/killed, the driver does not want to deal with hitting someone and the headache that comes with it.

I rode my bike as my primary form of transportation from age 18 to around 3 years ago. My wife always had a vehicle, but I only owned one once and it was brief. Cars are a headache to maintain and they are expensive. I never rode in the spandex like most people here imagine. Honestly, a comfortable T-shirt, basketball shorts, and normal shoes was all I needed. I once was run off the road by someone while clipped in and vowed to never clip in again. I had to fall with the bike which I hated.

My thought is that I spent a lot of my time as a child being told that I was doing something wrong, by my parents and adults in my life. As I look back, I wasn't. I was doing things differently, but I was never hurting anyone or doing anything unethical. The same applies here. I'm using the road to ride a bike. I'm probably lowering the collective BMI in the process. If you don't like that, that's really on you. Go around me or figure out a way to change the law so that cyclists don't get to ride on the roads. I don't know what else to tell you. I do know that loading up some bags on a bicycle and riding to the grocery store to do your weekly shopping is about the most fun you can have grocery shopping. You're in a better mood, you have more energy, you make better food choices. You also get to see just how miserable everyone driving a vehicle seems to be.

full of blind curves and very slow uphills. I've never understood how cyclists would ever feel safe cycling on those roads. I honestly understand the driver frustration.

Once got stuck behind 3 cyclists. The cyclists decided to space themselves out and were going uphill. The problem is that there were so many blind curves, there was no way to safely get around them.

Thanks to the cyclists, I was driving about 10 mph. They turned the head and saw me, but they refused to move over to let me pass. That wasn't a one time thing. It happens all the time in that region.

This is a super accurate description of the new mountain biking capital in Northwest Arkansas.

It's not the cyclists that you are annoyed with, it is the lack of infrastructure to support recreation. There are very few trails designated for cycling around the US because they do not make money, and designated bike lanes take tax payer dollars without gas taxes, and registration fees, to support it. Rails to Trails has been great, where it exists. Colorado is been as forward as any state in providing safe, and separated, spaces to ride.

That is the issue in Arkansas. The mountain bike trails are great. The roads to get to the trails from where ever you are- not great for cycling.

We have more miles of trails than we do roads, and bike lanes beside the roads, and these dipshits still figure out ways to block traffic and pester the normal folk.

They also seem to have massive road rage if they dont get their way.

They purposely ignore drivers and are actually twisting the throttle rev screw on the drivers. They know it and continue doing it. I say this because one of my siblings absolutely hates cyclists because they are always in the way.

I have not personally had much issues with cyclists while driving but it is a huge topic on FB and Nextdoor. I would be scared if I was a cyclist because narrow curving roads with elevation and cars seems dangerous.

Yes, it's the cyclists who have road rage and not the 80 IQ mouth breather who floored it because he had to wait 10 extra seconds to pass safely.

They have their own trails to use, but I think they just want to ride the roads so we can see them in their spandex.

You seem to be noticing lots of men's asses in spandex. I think you've complained more about their clothing than the traffic in this thread
