The basic and most important human organization is the family unit . That means kids. Banging somebody and getting dinner is fine, but it’s not family and it doesn’t socialize and support the next generation or do anything of any particular value.

In this day and age, the only benefit of marriage is a public show of support before the Lord.

Everything else can be arranged by legal documents.

If two people decide to spend a life together and have kids, as long as all of the legal stuff is worked out, does it matter if they are "married" or not?

Besides, the government punishes you in all sorts of financial ways if you are married, especially if you are a stay at home mom.

Your wife is a sex doll with a uterus. Got it.

So if you found that your wife was unable to bear children, you’d divorce her? Was that in the vows or are we making it up as we go along?

That's different.

I'm talking about knowing you don't want children going into the marriage, that's when I don't see the point of getting married.

Not married but pretty sure that is the whole point. And before you ask, the entire purpose of sex is having kids too.

I don’t think it is
Having a life long companion doesn’t mean you have to have kids with them in my opinion

It’s not different. If children are the purpose of marriage and your wife is unable or unwilling to have children then she serves no purpose as a wife.

You are one of my favorite posters . Smart , original and glib. But you are a boy and you lack wisdom . You just don’t know what you don’t know.

Talk less. Listen more. It might hurt your OT Game, but it might help your life. Plus I can tell you’d make a great Father .

I would still be with my wife, even if we didn't want children.

If my wife was unable to have children, we would more than likely adopt.
