Nope. That would be Golden Doodles. The breed of look at me, I'm trendy and ostentatious.

Everyone else has already hit the "need to burn volcanic amounts of energy," side of this.

However, these people are also the least likely to do even rudimentary training (since they didn't do any breed research to begin with), and will coddle any dog they get, give them treats at the wrong time, etc.

Honestly, This is why I want a corgi.

Best of both worlds. Smaller breed, incredibly intelligent, can work when needed, and chills out when needed.

I’ve got one and it’s more of a couch potato than I am.

These dogs are not made to be indoors in small spaces all day,

No dog, with maybe the exception of the toy breeds, are meant to be in an apt all day long.

I have a small poodle who would be outside 95% of the time if it was up to him, and he gets multiple walks, frisbee throwing sessions and tugs of war on our 1 acre lot, and he thinks he’s got a raw deal.

I’ve got two Aussies that sleep about 18 hours a day. They’ll adapt to their environment.

A great breed, but needs a place to run, not good for the city.

half acre lot

That’s a big enough back yard to play fetch in. Just make sure you play with the dog a few times a day. We have a half an acre and it big enough to run the dogs when we play fetch.

My Australian Shepherd is very sweet and calm. Obedient and wants to please. He gets rambunctious when I first get home but settles down quickly. Sleeps all day but loves catching a frisbee and going for hikes or walks. I'm wondering if some of the crazy "Australian Shepherds" the OP sees are mini "Aussies" with questionable genetics/bloodlines. Those things can have beady crazy eyes and tons of energy.

I've got you beat. We got an Aussie Doodle. We decided on the aussiedoodle because we wanted an aussie but are hoping the doodle will shed less. He's on a farm with 8 acres and has already been really good corraling the chickens. Right now he's crate trained at night because we don't want him to destroy the house when we're sleeping. They're super intelligent and you realize that after you understand that you're being trained by a dog.

But I can't really say anything bad about him. But it also helps to be there and for him to hit the ground working.

Not sure about trendy and a way to act aloof. It's just a dog.

Aussies are high energy and take an owner who understands the breed and can train the dog appropriately. It means spending time with the dog and exercising the dog. Some people should not have them.

My daughter had an Aussie mix and an Aussie in a very urban setting. They spent a lot of time exercising the dogs and training them. Both were great dogs, but then they got the training.

We had one, in a suburban environment. I could let her out and she would (mostly) stay in the yard (no fence). Also went for a 3-4 mile walk every day. Truly a great addition to our family. Just an extremely smart and entertaining creature.

If you can't manage a dog like this, don't get one. They need instruction from a human regardless of how much room you have and they want that. They are working dogs and if you don't give them a job, they will come up with one of their own (and you probably won't like it).

We got one nine years ago from a breeder in Lake Charles. She was expensive but worth every penny. The best dog I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and check out Paret Reddin.

That’s a blanket statement. I’ve got a 75 pound golden doodle that lives inside. I leave the back door propped open for him all day when I’m home. He plays pretty rough with the doxiePoo who annoys the shite out of him. He can lounge around for about 2 days but after that he needs to make a few laps
