I was going to suggest Mark Mathews as he does some fantastic work and I would use him again in a second, until I read this review. Wow.

Howard Roark is not only the greatest architect I've met, he's also the greatest person I've met. He's not only a gifted and generous architect but a genuinely good human being sharing his craft with the world and asking very little in return. After he finished his design I thanked him, paid him double and asked him to be my son's godfather. He's less an architect and more a saint, God bless you Howard.

Architect suggestions
Ask the builder about what draftsman you could hire to do the same thing. It'll save you about $10K. An architect is going to pull the same designs the draftsman will.

Mike Hogstrom and his staff at on site design are killing it in BR. They are behind the most design forward neighborhoods, and homes in town. It is one of the younger architecture firms in the city and it is blowing up.

Also the mosquitos out here starting at dusk, and lasting for about 45 minutes are brutal. Most people just go inside at this point. If you are going to be outside, you are going to need something screened for comfort...

Yup. When I made snide underhanded comments about every house in Baton Rouge/Lafayette looking like the same regurgitated Fleur de Lis vomit and he high fived me..I knew he was the one. Looked through his portfolio and was very impressed. He throws in a lot of really neat things you never would even consider. And he worked hard to get everything I wanted within the sq ft we needed. Anyway, he's very busy. He was back logged back in December when we started, but we managed to get it done by April. Keep in mind everything was from scratch.

That is not a bad turnaround for a custom design.
Most people want the guy that can draw a house in a couple weeks. That is guy you should be wary of. You don't want to hire the guy without any other work.

You're right. He also had a rule that he would not do a house in less than 90 days because he wants both parties to have "islands of time" to think on things and for creativity to take place. I'm looking forward to seeing his development in Adelia come to life.

Norm is a hell of a guy. Pretty decent architect from what I've been told.

We have an architect that works with us as a designer but does some architecture on the side. She just designed my aunt's house on the Tickfaw and they are very happy.
