AR15 or AK47 ?

2.23/5.56 Nato... or the 7.65x39mm ?

You only get one in the Zombie Apocalypse or Societal collapse. Which one is it going to be and why?

In this country, an AR15 due to the amount of ammo that would be stored in certain houses since they’re now zombies. I’d rather a shotgun though in a zombie situation. Headshots would probably be hard on moving targets and I can at least blow a leg off to slow it down even more.

I'd also prefer a shotgun, but if I had to have a rifle it be an AR style rifle chambered in .308 like the Revulsion DI

For a zombie apoc, ak would be terrible compared to an AR. If located here in the states.

AR15 due to sheer popularity in the firearm and ammo. Shotguns are a nice weapon to have if you are inside a defensible position like a boarded up house. But if you are out and about, reload time is too long and complicated compared to an AR. But my ideal firearm would be a .45 caliber carbine or subgun with suppressor. Something like a Kriss Vector. Since .45 ACP is natively subsonic, pairing the round with a suppressor means whisper quiet shooting. You sacrifice range and accuracy, but counting on 150 meter headshots with a pistol caliber carbine is not a great idea.

I am thinking as well that the AR, due to the amount of ammo that would mostly likely be available, would be the way to go.

But it seems that the AK47 is a much more reliable weapon based upon a simpler design. Plus it's bullet packs a little bit bigger punch.

I’ve seen an ak thrown with the slide open into a mud puddle, driven over with a jeep, picked up, loaded and fired no issues. You just can’t beat it’s reliably

I prefer the M16 A2, with 3 round burst. Because, any zombie that’s worth one bullet- is worth three.

I have an Arsenal AK that I prefer over an AR because it's accurate to 300 yards and turns cover into concealment at close range. It lacks the longer range of an AR, though, and is heavier. A crappy AK would finish a distant 2nd though. If I had to pick one, slight advantage to a high-end AK.

I’m not interested in zombies. But I do want a couple plinkers. What’s the most readily available ammunition?

I prefer my AKs. 5.45x39 vs 7.62 would be a hard choice for me though

I had a Norinco Mac90.. Got it at a gun show for about $160.00 plus ammo. That sucker kicked like a mule.. I can't imagine firing full auto.. Lost it in Katrina. Wish I still had it..
