All depends on if you're spending O-T $ on it or not.

Not Samsung! I'm on my 3rd Samsung french door that Lowe's has delivered to my house under warranty. The ice maker on this one has now crapped out. I'm not even trying for another. Fortunately there's a second ice maker in the freezer drawer that I can use. The guy at Lowe's finally told me that Samsung hasn't figured out how to make an ice maker that will work in a refrigerator and that they come back all the time. No one works on them where I live so they just give an RA and swap it out.

If you're not trying to spend the money on something commercial, my mother in law bought a french door LG from Lowe's about 3 years ago and hasn't had a lick of trouble, fwiw.

Frisges, I say stay away from GE and Monogram, just because I do a lot of control board swaps on them, but owners love them.

The Newer Maytag fridges are really nice units, same with electrolux or Frigidaire. I think Bosch has dropped off a bit in quality in fridges.

I have some issues with LG fridges, but newer Samsungs seem to have gotten really good.

In the $1500-2000 k range I would go to Maytag or Samsung.

In the cheaper range Frigidaire or Kenmore. (many Kenmores are Frigidaire but can alo be GE or Samsung, so it's gets confusing with them.

Also I say Maytag, some say Kitchen Aid and some Whirlpool.

Whirlpoool makes a lot of brands. Their chef-inspired line is Kitchenaid, their fancy line is Jenn-Aire their innovative line is Whirlpool, their tried and true design line is Maytag and Amana is a cheaper Maytag while Estate is their ultra budget brand.

End of the day they use a lot of similar parts.

If it comes down to production, Maytag is mostly American made, while the best Kitchen Aid fridges were from the Turkey factory.

Electrolux is Frigidaire and they were blocked from buying GE which instead was scooped up by ultra-budget brand haier (junk)

Every brand out there I can find people who call them junk and people who love them. All I can go off is failure rate and what I see. I don't like doing warranty work, so I don't usually see a unit until it's 2-3 years old. Of those I just think the brands I mentioned in the last post do the best.

It also depends which type, Amana may be the best for bottom drawer, Samsung for french door and Maytag for side by side.

But then LG uses a linear compressor and almost no one knows how to change them unless they were trained by LG.

But yes Samsung twist icemakers suck. Based on GE icemakers. A lot of brands still use the 1980's style Whirlpool icemaker (Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking all Whirlpool brands without ice maker in fridge) and they last forever and if they break? $70

The icemakers that twist or flip to drop ice are mostly garbage.
