Apollo 11 moon landing video

A very informative video which features footage from a camera mounted on the lunar module and text which explains what the astronauts are doing inside the spacecraft. Also features audio loops from inside the Eagle, Columbia, and Mission Control.

Yes. I followed the whole Space Program at the time. We used to watch the takeoffs and landings of the Apollo project live at school. I remember Armstrong’s walk occurred at night. I remember the exit from the Lunar Module was delayed a couple of hours. ( as everything is in the Space Program). We were glued to the TV waiting for him to come out. I was twelve years old.

I just watched the video posted. Listening to the radio transmissions while they were landing gave me the frissons. We watched and listened to it all at the time. It was exciting to watch and listen to. Then came Apollo 13.

You are not a smart observer. Nor are you very educated in the physics of a pendulum in a vacuum.
This particular hoaxer argument actually PROVES they were on the Moon, because if they were on Earth, the dampening effect of the atmosphere would make the flag return to motionless MUCH faster.

What was the day like? A Sunday, right? So I'm guessing church then a family lunch. Was the whole day exciting and nervous? It was July.. were neighbors grilling? Was it the "talk of the neighborhood"?
Or was it just.. remember to tune in at 10pm for the astronauts, and not a big huge deal?

I recall reading about the flag used. It had stays in it to make it “fly”.

What do you expect them to do? These call outs are typical for space flight, they have to be precise in their landing, calling out what they did is necessary.
It sounds like they had some excitement in their voices when they said the eagle has landed!

I too watched as it was unfolding. I was home on leave from basic training. Would watch on tv then go outside and look at the moon. Back and forth in and out just trying to take in all in.
Don’t know about Ovaltine but I bet there was some Tang in the spacecraft.

It was a big deal. At the time we had three channels on the TV. ( plus the public channel and a VHF channel). The news came on at 6 AM, Noon , 5,6 and 10 PM. There was no 24 hour news coverage broadcast. We would wait for news. They would interrupt regular programming for bulletins. Everyone was talking about,anticipating and watching the whole deal. We stayed up the whole night in front of the TV listening and waiting. It was very exciting to me as I read everything I could get my hands on about it. I understood what was happening.
