Dominicans have been better for a long time, I’ve had a few Cubans that were rolled right in front of me in Cuba that weren’t too bad but there was a lot of bootlegging and cutting going on for years when yuppies first brought back the stogie fad

Your cigar could've been aboard that flight. Really makes you think.

It was a southwest aircraft a one point I believe. The 200 series was retired by swa in 2003/2004 I believe.

It was a Mexican airline and crew leased by Cubana to operate the flight.

Second hand I’d imagine. I doubt they’d buy one off the line. I don’t even think they produced the 737-200 anymore.

In July 2015, there were a combined 99 Boeing 737-200s in service, mostly with "second and third tier" airlines, and those of developing nations.[128]

Also from Wiki:

quote:

The 1,095th and last delivery of a -200 series aircraft was in August 1988 to Xiamen Airlines

The plane that crashed today was at least almost 30 years old and possibly much older.

Yikes!

The plane involved was built in 1979.

But age is not necessarily a factor if an aircraft is properly maintained.
