my wife had one before I got snipped.
It was fantastic, but it was time to remove it and I don't want kids so I got snipped. The snipping was cheaper than the IUD, go figure. $25 copay.

A vasectomy is great. I don't know why any married dudes that are done with kids don't have one.
It let's the wife off the hook for all of the weird shite they have to deal with for BC and if the marriage doesn't work out you can drop bombs all over town.
Win/win

Its all about how well placed they are.
Badly placed, or low hanging strings can feel like you are getting stabbed with a thumb tack on the end of your manhood. They do lose some of that with time, but a quick visit to your SO's gyno can fix it just as well.
Can't say I'm a fan of the first time I stabbed myself on her IUD, but I was a fan of being bareback once it was adjusted.

On the flip side, it beats the hell out of the weird hormonal craziness that birth control pills cause and at the time we researched it, it has a higher rate of effectiveness. Plus if she ever tries to sneak up and pull the goalie, I will know right away so it's a good way to avoid the anchor baby.

My ex had the mirena.
Mine too, although I don't recall feeling anything that horrible.
Of course, this thread now has me questioning whether she actually had it or just told me she did.

The IUD also caused a cyst to develop on one ovary which had to be removed. Stay away.
I know someone who died in a car accident. Stay away from those motorized vehicles.

While it is pretty rare, I know someone that had one in that got infected. She became septic, nearly died and is now permanently disabled.

Why would you want your wife to have a weed eater pull chain through her cervix that fights off your dick when you could get a vasectomy that takes two days to get over, some pain pills and a couple of days off of work with an ice pack on your balls watching Netflix?

I was with a girl for a little more that a year that had an IUD. I could always feel it during sex but she never got pregnant. That doesn't mean that something isn't naturally wrong with one of us but they are typically super reliable.

I had the copper one (non hormonal) at one time but only left in for 2 years because we were ready to have our next child. No problems for me but I've heard of several terrible experiences. 3 pregnancies that I know of personally and 2 cases were the girl had to have it removed because it caused major problems to her cervix or uterus
