Just to wrap this up in case you don't respond again...

Aside from the convenience of not having to use a key and being able to remotely control and check the status of your lock, a smart lock allows you to issue and revoke keys at will, and also set a schedule for when they are active. This is a game-changer if you have a housekeeper, or if you ever go out of town and have a neighbor keep up with something at your house. You don't have to have physical keys made, and you don't have to worry about someone copying or losing your keys. The "key" you issue to the housekeeper is different than the one you issue to your neighbor, and you determine what day and time each of them can enter your house, if at all. This is a clear and objective "gain" of having a smart lock.

I have Yale locks and keypads on all of my doors. Connected to HomeKit via Wi-Fi. Can unlock via phone, keypad, or use a physical key. Never use keys. I also like not having to get out of bed when I think I left a door unlocked because I’m a lazy pos. Just check Home app.

Yeah we've had smart locks with keypads or finger print for several years. I don't want to go back to carrying keys

This. I love going keyless.

I have one on the camp. Had to modify the rod to fit a mobile home door. Everyone gets their own code. No more guessing who was there last

I guess people don't know how easy it is?

$32 for a set of 5 bump keys and literally 2 seconds

I don’t think most people realize how easy it is to pick most locks or open a door.

Besides, if a burglar wants in they can just break a window.

Or plant a shoulder into it and take out the door casing.

Wouldn't even be hard.

I guarantee you that for every 1 person who can hack wifi and unlock your smart lock there are 1,000 dipshits who can use a bump key and a million who can use a pry bar.

This is why I’ve settled on leaving my garage door into my house unlocked and a smart garage door opener (meross) and cameras on each entry.

Yeah, unless you build a fortress you're not going to keep anyone out who wants in. Best you can do is deter them, alert yourself and maybe the cops when something happens, and capture as much evidence as possible. And of course arm yourself if you are home.

Using a physical key is just a daily inconvenience to yourself and a mild inconvenience for a burglar.

This - except I've found my Nest cameras to be pieces of crap that like to inform me of a shadow, a bird, a bug, a tree blowing in the wind etc other than someone actually walking on my property. It's really kind of amazing how bad it is - I've started just shutting them off because I'm tired of getting 100 b.s. notifications every day.

Same here except I use Habitat. Was great when having house painted as I could give painters a new code everyday and love how it can alert me when certain codes are used.

Most of them have bluetooth in addition to wifi and being battery powered they continue to work. And if the batteries happen to die at this time some have a place to stick a 9v battery to power it up. Also they pretty much all have a regular key to fall back on.

I have one and love it. As soon as I get close to the door it automatically unlocks before I grab the handle.
