Oddly enough Swensens has 300 locations still open, but most are in Asia.
Not sure why they couldn't make it in the US.

I used to work at the Swensens in the Northshore square mall in Slidell. It was my first part time job in high school. I always came home smelling like a waffle cone.

Remember the one in Jackson, MS. I'm sure I'm part of the reason they were loud n chaotic. PSA, dont get gummi bears on your ice cream...they turn into jaw breakers

Used to have a Swensen's in the LSU Union back in the day.
Yep. I'd grab a waffle cone there at least once a week. Good times

Do you remember A&W Drive Inn's where they would bring you real root beer floats in a real frozen glass mug
Those still exist.

I do and it was a neat place. There was one in Longview and to the other point, Texarkana had an A&W in the 70's. A&W was awesome.
There is an old Dairy Queen over there maybe in Henderson ? That has the old flat top griddle and makes the best hamburgers. Not in Longview but close. New London maybe I just can’t remember.

Heck yes. Used to go to the one on Severn across from Lakeside Mall all the time as a kid.

This was the one I went to. I don't remember them having burgers. Just great sandwiches and a killer cheese soup. And ice cream of course, including the Earthquake (which I would get if I made straight A's)
As a kid, I thought it was the only Swenson's in existence, so I was really amazed when I saw this:
