I was given a set of serrated Cutco steak knives as a wedding gift back in 2001. They are still great steak knives.

So far they have outlasted the marriage by 6 years and are still going strong!!!

These are not good knives, especially considering you can buy an actual great knife at that price. Stamped vs. forged is a meaningless designation, as is "full tang" and whether or not it has a bolster (in fact a full bolster is not usually a good thing).

They may seem sharp (especially at first) because they're serrated; that's a poor man's way of imitating the action of an actual razor sharp knife. If you enjoy your Cutco knife - great. But no one should ever buy one.

FWIW for a chef's knife you should either spend $120+ on a high quality knife (i.e. not Henckel or Wusthof) or a $25 Victorinox. The difference between the $25 Victorinox and the $90 Wusthoff will be minimal. The Difference between the $90 Wustfhof and the $120 Messermeister Meridian Elite will be substantial.

I sold Cutco the summer after my senior year in high school with a few of my friends. Ended up selling 20k of knives in the summer and made over 5k, so I was pretty happy with it.

I wanted to buy 8 cutco steak knives 2 months ago from a rep until he told me it would cost $750.

8 pack steak knives is $550 including tax. And those are the big steak knives. 8 of the normal table knives are $310 including tax.

Read a story a while back about a college football player making bank over the summer selling these things.

Imagine how much Fournette could make in a summer.

A friend from high school started selling when he was 16 (in 2008). He's worked for them ever since and has worked his way up to district coordinator for Vector.

They are higher quality than Henckels, Wusthof, Shun, etc, cheaper, and come with a forever guarantee.

My friends son was selling them. He came and gave his sales pitch and Im like yeah they nice, pretty sharp, felt nice in the hands...... How much? $749 for the set. I told him I enjoyed his spill and I think his knives ate great but I need to upgrade to a new refrigerator right now, I'll spend my money on that. I did end up buy a paring knife though.

How can you say full tang is meaningless? Perhaps for lighter duty knifes but for heavier it seems like it'd be very important, as opposed to a blade just attached to a handle.

They were weird as hell. They passed out letters to everyone after high school graduation. Like in the river center theater as we were leaving. I had a friend sell knives for them and he gave them my info when they asked him to recommend people. Some girl called me and was vague as hell but was so excited about making money. She didn't even tell me what they did. It was so weird and I declined.

I'm currently selling Rainbow Cleaning Systems. I can get you in as a mid-level with perhaps 3-4 people working under you.

The Vikings were using big arse swords without a full tang to kick some French and Saxon arse; your non-full tang knife isn't going to snap just because you hit a chicken bone

(caveat: I'm referring to high quality knives, not the POS you get at the grocery store)
