I remember people claimed these were great knives and that the commission based sales job wasn't a sham. Anyone ever do this as a part time job or even buy the knives? I remember going to a meeting in that shite hole holiday inn off airline by the interstate and thinking, "dammit, there's another hour of this shitty presentation."

My parents would buy them from my friends in high school that sold them as a summer job.

My mom still has some I believe for steak knives. I think they're actually pretty decent knives

I actually heard the knives were good. I just remember going to these meetings and it feeling very awkward...then again, I'm not one of those that approaches all my family and friends to sell shite.

True. You remember same thing about some fancy water filters.
I went to a presentation for selling them off Sherwood (one of them offices where Londoner is now) back in 94. Was a dude on video surrounded by exotic cars asking if we wanted to be rich. Then a chick telling us to pay $300 and get started recruiting friends to sell these filters.
I got the frick out of that place in 5 minutes on a 'break' between presenters.

A high school buddy did this and still has his steak knives to this day.

My college roommates and I once hosted a Tupperware party, because you know how cheap you can get that stuff if you host a party?

We bought in bulk and prepared meals in advance. Very forward thinking. Left more money for beer.

ok that's a legit pyramid scheme and they definitely didn't try to hide it...when they say the word "recruit," it's obvious.

Had a friend that sold them. He hated it, but made a little cash. The knives he had were legit badass, it wasnt a scam at all.

The knives are good. Not a scam per se, as long as you understanding it is multi level sales. I never sold them, but they are good knives. I'd imagine you can get better for the money though.

I had a friend that sold Cutco in college and made decent money. The knives seemed legit as well.

A guy I went to high school with is a regional director or something like that with Cutco. He was the biggest doucher that I've ever seen. He likes to pretend that he's some sort of financial guru but he basically preys on the naïve college kids that don't know what's going on.

The knives are decent but the sales staff are a major turnoff

I know a guy who did Limu and got pretty high up doing it. His ex wife would praise him for how much he was paying in child support from Limu money. I still don't respect a douche who does nothing but host parties and badger friends and relatives to join.

When I was about 15 years old I went to one of their presentations without knowing jack shite about them. I thought it was a legit business and I was excited about getting a job. Well at the end of the presentation the presenter brings everyone in his office one by one for an "interview" which was total bull shite. At the end of doing all the interviews he called off all the names that were hired, I was one of them. Told us we'd have to put up $250 for the knife presentations, got home and did some research and found out it was a sham. Ah, good ol nostalgia.
