About to start one next month. Will start as a guest spot on a sports podcast, but will spin off into my own show with a cohost on gaming (video games, dice games, board games, tcg’s). The focus will be on wacky stories of games, how they shaped childhood and adolescence, and friends made as a result.

Chris, I'd be a fabulous guest on your p-cast. I think TD-nation yearns to know the real me and what makes me tick.

This is the type of info I am looking for. Thanks.

I've come across a few podcast that seemed interesting, but then when I start listening I couldn't handle it for more than a half of min.

Is there certain factors in a room you do it in play a factor in the sound? Obviously you don't want to do it somewhere where it echos..

I'll do an episode and not announce you will be on it and then surprise everyone and just do it and everyone will be so excited.

I am planning one for my work right now and will more than likely be hosting it. A few thoughts:

- What is the purpose? Who is the audience? Are you going to have a topic area to focus on?
- Where are you going to host (cloud) the podcast? What is monthly subscription fees for that?
- How long will each episode be and who will edit the podcast once it is recorded?
- How will you get it onto sites like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.
- How will you market the podcast?

I put together a project scope document and WBS just for our first episode and it’s already looking like 50 man hours and thats before we have even done the first storyboard yet.

TL:DR - It is a lot harder than you think.

For guys, even your friends will avoid listening to your podcast, and you'll just end up embarrassed and wondering why you thought you had anything important enough to talk about in the first place.

You clearly don't listen to many podcasts.

My wife has been wanting me to do one, but really don't have the time to put into it. Mine wouldn't have a set topic, more of whatever peaks my interest on a given day.

One thing about it, if I ever do start one up, it will NOT be PC!

If I did one it would be "sports and entertainment". My audience would be sports fans, but in between sports, it would be about current events (no political talk), etc.

But I also thought it would be cool to do one in which each episode would be with someone who works in a certain industry. An investigator, head of parks & rec, HS football HC, etc, etc, etc

Personally, I'd want each episode to be 30-40mins. There are podcast I have interest in, but then you see episodes that are 1hr 30 mins, close to two hours and thats too long to get invested in.

That would make it hard to categorize. And you need your interest to be something other people would be interested in as well.

You should definitely do this. Your threads on her are always so interesting, I'm sure your podcast would be just as great.

They have plenty of "True Crime" podcasts. I think I want to do current events excluding politics.

For example...if I was doing one this week I would definitely talk about the Documentary series "Dont F/k With Cats". I just watched it this week and it needs to be processed.

If solo you can go with a USB mic.

If not you will need an interface or mixer. XLR Mics with cables. Computer to record to.

Tons of hosting site options. Submitting to apple and google pretty easy. Just need to google the steps
