The defense is saying - Jackson attempted to rob Ward with a knife while he was passed out? Wouldn’t there be video outside the hotel?

I think Ward passed out on the ground at some point and when he woke up an altercation ensued and there is no video. How it started we don't know, how it ended we do know.

Imagine Ward having to face an Orleans Parish jury on a second degree murder charge, where you have a Perlis shirt wearing white guy who is accused of beating to death a homeless black man?

I'd be in Central America right now.

Here’s an updated article from yesterday as the trial begins.

Updated article from trial 5/2

One would think there would be video if this happened right in front of the Pontchartrain Hotel, no?

He would have two pissed-off relatives that put up property bonds and a really pissed off bond company on the hook for over $800,000.

Yeah I think someone in here said his grandmother and parents had to put their houses up to make that bond?

Maybe I'm misremembering.

I'd just kill myself.

The DA himself is trying the case it seems. And John Fuller on the other side is a good choice by Ward.

Had to do as much as he could to take the color-card out of it, I guess.

Interested to see how long this trial lasts and if/how many witnesses are called to testify, with the initial articles stating the police talked to witnesses after his arrest.

I hope we can follow along with the case on this thread. Seems like other threads have been anchored/deleted when this case was brought up in the past.

According to police, Ward, unprovoked, attacked Jackson at about 1:30 a.m. in front of the Pontchartrain Hotel, punching Jackson until he fell to the sidewalk, then kicking him in the head once he was down. Officers found Ward in a nearby parking garage with blood on his hands.

The one time NOPD respond quickly

What do you think Ward's sentencing might be? Your best guess.

The two women that posted property bonds had the last name of Thibodaux, not sure of the relationship.

Saw him at Walk-Ons after the UGA game in 2018 sporting a lovely ankle monitor. He left early to make curfew though.

Hope he has spent the last 4 years doing MMA and boxing training

2nd degree murder is automatic life without parole

Manslaughter carries up to 40 and I’ll bet he gets at least 30 if that is the responsive verdict

Some of the criminal law guys could tell you more accurately but I think he’d have to do a significant portion of that time if it were a crime of violence.
