Can Ward appeal the conviction? Although I’m sure that won’t make any difference

And frick Jason Williams. Not saying this guy doesn’t deserve a long sit in jail, just that many others with multiple killings now deserved to too.

If Williams had any balls, he'd man up and prosecute those 4 teens arrested in the brutal carjacking / killing of 73-yr-old Linda Frickey in March. If I'm a member of the deceased's family, Fk a plea deal. Try this case in court and ask for the maximum sentence. These 4 animals need to be made an example of since thugs on the street do not fear the soft judicial system.

Here is Williams' statement following the Garrett Ward verdict. Wonder if he expressed this same personal sentiment to the Frickey family ?

“As District Attorney, I am committed to increasing safety and justice. In this case, the lack of humanity and respect shown by the defendant in this incident as he viciously attacked this 60-year-old black man was irreprehensible. When I met with Mr. Jackson’s family last year, I promised his loved ones that I would see this case to the end with them. This conviction is proof that we did just that,” said Williams said in an issued statement. "All of the strong evidence my office received coupled with witness testimony and our commitment to securing justice for the Jackson Family is why the defendant was rightfully found guilty.”

ETA: For some reason the mugshot will not appear on the page (typical Louisiana - it doesn't work). Just right click and select open image in new tab and then it'll appear.

Yea. frick Jason Williams and frick the city of New Orleans.

He only gives a shite about this case because it's a white kid who killed a black man. If it were a black kid who killed a white man or a black kid who killed a black man with the same set of facts, he would not give a frick.

WDSU: Family of woman dragged to death in Mid-City carjacking meeting with district attorney
quote:

Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams issued the following statement regarding the carjacking: “What occurred to 73-year-old Linda Frickey was heinous and unthinkable. I can’t help, but think of my own mother and other elders in our community. "While we will allow the NOPD to complete a thorough investigation, any and all persons that the evidence shows participated in the murder of this elder will be prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of the law.

WDSU: New Orleans teens accused of dragging woman to death in Mid-City enter pleas in court

Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams announced that the four teens arrested and accused in the carjacking death of Linda Frickey would be charged as adults. One teen is 17 years old, one is 16 years old, and two are 15 years old. Frickey's family met with Orleans Parish DA Jason Williams last month to discuss the case.

Let's see if he handles the trial himself. I believe that is what most were referring to with him spending his time on the case

Charging two 15 year olds as adults in a state that has mandatory life no parole for 2nd degree murder is not just lip service. Not worth speculating if the DA takes the case himself, Williams could be in jail by the time the trial starts. Y’all just butthurt cuz ya gotta go find new reverse racism bait.

Garrett was adamant that he did not want to do prison for any length, period (in his words: "I just can't do prison.")

I just LITERALLY can't right now.

We, it is kinda lip service. Juveniles cannot receive life with no chance of parole.

I could not imagine that decision. Either take the plea deal and serve some time in prison but you still have a long life when you get out. Or roll the dice and try to get no time. With it being a New Orleans Jury I would have taken the deal.

I agree - but the thing is, Garrett kept saying, "I can't do prison; I'll do whatever I have to do not to go to prison" so when he heard that there was a chance he could walk, he chose that route, even though his chances were slim. Not sure how he's going to react to this, because whether he wants to or not, he's going. I'm thinking 25-30 years.

It is New Orleans, I think my first thought might be "who can I bribe to get out of this?".

Exactly. Judges, prosecutors, witnesses, whoever. It's not like Louisiana has a sterling reputation when it comes to stuff like this.
