No way he's active. I haven't seen a thread about fluid sexuality in years.

So I use a card that turns bitcoin into US dollars? So these gas station are not really accepting bitcoins are they?

Are you trying to say its not a currency?

Not understanding your reasoning.

I think he's saying he makes all his purchases in California gold pieces. Because they are currently accepted everywhere.

Wiki never argued for bitcoin as an investment. He never used terms like Lamboland and gainz. He said bitcoin would topple governments and take over the world. It hasn't happened. I could ask 100 people on the street tomorrow about bitcoin and I would guarantee 95 of them would look at me like I am crazy. I could go into 100 stores tomorrow and all 100 would not accept my bitcoin as a payment. Or if a couple did accept it, they would immediately turn it in to US dollars. So my point is, the old guard of the money board are not exactly wrong. Yet.

Are there any metrics out there on transaction volume of BC excluding trading markets? I'd like to see what the underlying demand is.

The hype is growing though.

You can already get debit cards that allow you to purchase products priced in US dollars against a reserve of Bitcoin.

You might have seen a Bitcoin transaction at wall Mart and never realized it.

Since when did this become the topic at hand?

The back and forth between you and I started when you said you cant buy cigs with it. I gave you a way that you could. Yea the circle k isnt going to accept my btc wallet right now. They also dont accept euros, dinar, yen and everything else under the sun. But I can have a Visa card sent to me that I bought with btc and go use it like a regular credit card.

So you can walk into a store and pull out your e wallet and pay for your goods using bitcoin? Not a debit card.

And FWIW, I always enjoyed Wiki when he was here and really tried to understand bitcoin. I never really "took a side" but I definitely leaned to the side with more years experience in finance and banking then years that I have been alive.

You guys now are investing in OMG coin and FML coin and DoGE coin and anything else trying to make a quick buck. And you are one of the few that can talk about it like Wiki, where as the majority are just trying to get to Lamboland.

What is entertaining is all the people on the money board who debated with him in a condescending way, then continued to post jeering threads about him as bitcoin declined, then became strangely quiet as the price stared rocketing up again.

Lamboland.

I've followed that ETC thread on the money board since day one of its inception. I wish I had cash to burn and I'd have been going to the moon as well.

I for real lost my shite at some of the lamboland memes even though I didn't have any skin in the game. Maybe a couple of those guys will let me borrow a lambo for a weekend

Yea I think we are so far away from that general acceptance that the SEC could dismantle it all in the U.S. before it gets to it.

Agree. I wish he still posted on the site.

I guess you can say I'm on the fence with this. I trust my father with money about as much as I can trust anyone in the world with it. Him and his two stock brokers wont touch the stuff and they have over a century of experience in the realm of investing. Its hard to argue with that.

It's also hard to argue with my 35 year old friend who is retired because of the coins. He took risks with the investments and rode the ups and downs when people were running for the hills, all the while putting more money into it. It didnt hurt that he was already making a good living so his 'risk' wasnt anything he couldnt afford to lose.

The volatility of all those shite coins makes it where the only thing you can do is make a quick buck on it. Very few imo are good projects that the developers and supporters can get good headway on.

The market is being flooded with scams and everything that should be illegal under the sun right now though. Smart and big money are making money

Great post. And my point the whole time is as of right now it's hard to say which side was wrong. Neither appear to be yet. Although BTC has went up whatever insane amount it has, Wiki is still not right. And Broke and Russian are still not wrong. Yet.

This time in 2010 they were less than one dollar a piece.... you could have theoretically invested just $200 at that time and it'd be worth over a million dollars now

After doing the math, had I forgone finishing my bachelors and put all that money in ETH at the exact same time (mid-2015) it would be around $11,000,000 today.

Honest question, how do you do that. Say I had $100,000 in bitcoin. What are the exact steps that I would take to turn that into cash, and how long would it take?

Put an ask out there for 1% below current price and you'd have $99,000 in your exchange in roughly 5 minutes. Transferred to your bank account the next day.

Unfortunately, it would be subject to capital gains, which is why I'm holding on to mine. Technically, the gain in value is also subject to it, too, but they can't really tell how much I have. I'm banking on this for the long term. I've spent slightly less than 5 figures and it could turn out to set my family up for generations....or I could have just flushed down several thousand dollars. I've definitely spent money in worse ways.
