I've had a stuffy, congested nose for what feels like my entire life, and it's bothering the frick out of me. Can't breathe or sleep well with it. I've tried a bunch of different options that hasn't worked, but a friend of mine suggested Navage being something useful. I was going to ask if any of yall used it and if it's something you suggest might do the trick?

Make sure you use distilled water. You don't want a brain eating amoeba

We've had one for a few years now. It works great.

I've only used traditional neti pot, but my wife has chronic sinus issues and has a Navage. She likes it, but the only issue is that you need to use their proprietary packs.

I don't use the Navage, I use these instead. As said, use distilled or boiled water with it. I up usage during allergy season and when I'm sick.

I use mine every single day of the week, twice during the spring and fall.

Neil Med bottle works pretty well and is quite a bit less expensive.

I have never heard of NeilMed but I'd be down to use it if that one works.

I first used it after getting covid. It looked like I had given birth when I examined the water afterwards.

I use it a few times a week when I feel I need it. Works well.

It gets the job done, but the only bad part is when the water goes in your mouth

I’ve tried Navage myself, and honestly, it made a noticeable difference for me. I’ve always struggled with congestion, especially during allergy season, and nothing seemed to help until I gave it a go. It felt weird at first, but once I got used to the process, it really helped clear things up. It’s not a miracle cure, but it definitely made a difference for me, so if other methods haven’t worked, it could be worth trying!

Our PoliBoarders are free to use any type of water they want, no food source for brain-eating amoebas there.

Used to use a netipot but got the navage a couple of years ago. No comparison, the navage is far superior

I used an off-brand version of Navage (only has a hose for 1 nostril, so you have to alternate) and works great clearing congestion when I am sick or dealing with allergies.

In addition to the other recommendations, I would say do not use it within an hour of going to sleep when you are severely congested. Sometimes that water can get "trapped" and it's a terrible feeling when you are trying to settle down for a nap and suddenly a bunch of water falls into your mouth/throat. Not enough to hurt you, just gives you a nice jolt to keep you that burst of energy you don't want

Definitely should be rinsing if you have any sinus issues.

Suggestions:

Get some Xlylitol off amazon and add it to the mix at double or triple the amount of the salt. Trust me. Increases molality which makes it clean better with less irritation. And it's naturally antibiotic with no side effects.

Make sure the water is below body temp. Even slightly warm water can be irritating and make problems worse. It does not clean better.

Keep the back of your nose open. If you are too congested it will come out of your mouth. That is fine. But if your tongue blocks it pressure will force it into your eustacian tubes and can cause infection (and it hurts). If you feel pressure you're doing it wrong.

I use tap water. Brain amoeba is extremely rare and it's not worth the trouble to me.

I've used Navage for years because I'm always semi-stuffy at the minimum. I would get sinus infections basically every March and October.
The real game changer was getting my deviated septum fixed a few months ago. That has been an absolute game changer. I'm an idiot for waiting as long as I have getting that fixed.
Do you have a deviated septum?

My husband uses a netti pot. He’s often exposed dust at work and this has done wonders for him.

Make sure to use distilled water.

(I looked into manage but didn’t want to spend $100 and it not work .. the Netti pot was like $10 and works for him. We do have to buy the rinse packets as needed.)

I've bought them at Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart. I think they are on Amazon as well. There is a battery operated one that is probably closer to the Navage that is $25 or $30 or a basic squeeze bottle for about $10. I've used one or the other for a decade or better. Keeps me breathing easier and reduced the number of trips to an ENT.
