We have one. Cost around 70k. By far the most expensive vehicle we have ever purchased. But with four kids I wouldn't trade it for anything. Very nice vehicle.

I have had Suburbans and Yukons for years. Eight of them in total I think. One of my buddies from high school owns a GM dealership so this is the low down based on when I went to see him a couple of months ago to buy a new one.
The Suburban/Yukon is enjoying an unprecedented popularity right now because, as mentioned by a couple of others, it has risen as the lone survivor of the biggest of the big SUV. Bad news is that they are literally selling every one they can make. While they will negotiate some, because US car buyers won't buy if they don't get some negotiation, they will quickly hit a price point where it is take it or leave it. They will let you walk because they know they can sell the vehicle to the next guy. If you want a barometer of the popularity of the vehicle, look at current used prices. A six year old Suburban with 90k miles in decent shape is still selling north of 30k. Price retention like that is unheard of in domestic vehicles.
Bottom Line. The best deal you will get is to take advantage of manufacturer financing at low or zero interest. That is where you can save a butt ton of money.

You haven't priced used domestic trucks if you think that's unique to the Suburban

Look at spending maybe 5-10k more and you can get the Yukon Denali. Much nicer vehicle with better build quality.
If I'm a car salesman you are my kinda guy.

for a Chevy?
Considering I put nearly 300K miles on my 03 Yukon with the 5.3L V8 and owned it for 13 years, I think I got my money's worth.

I have a 2011 suburban. I am not impressed at all with the quality of the vehicle given the amount of money it cost. We have had no engine problems but the interior is deteriorating. Multiple cracks in the dash. Had the dash replaced just before the warranty went out due to cracks. Now at 80000 miles, the replacement dash has cracks too. This is not a problem to only the Suburban. Everyone I know with a Silverado or Tahoe from the same period has cracks in the dash.
Paint is worn off from the knobs on the radio and AC. One of the rear windows won't roll up once it's rolled down. The mister on the rear wiper doesn't work. The fold in side mirrors no longer work.
Overall, a shitty product. I won't buy GM again.

You didn't pay near the same for that vehicle in 03. The price inflated a lot in the late 2000s. I priced a base tahoe in 2008 and it was 28k. Now it's mid 40s.

Same exact thing. Cracked twice. Second time was my breaking point. A 52k sticker price vehicle should not have those issues. Had an 99 Silverado before and was always a Chevy person. No more, not at those prices. I'm in a Lexus and an Infiniti now (no need to tow at the moment) and am paying less and getting more. Done with the bloated pricing.

I'm just not a fan of the quality you get at that price.
Until Chevy can actually have trucks and SUVs with BOTH running lights functioning, I'll be extremely wary of the reliability of the rest of the vehicle.
Almost every one I see going down the road only has one functioning daytime running light. What in the hell is up with that?

Buy a used Lexus LX570 instead of a piece of shite Suburban.
You're welcome.

My biggest complaint of the LX570 was the small gas tank that limits you around 250 miles a tank and the air-ride that typically lasts 40,000 miles and is $4800 to replace.

My first time buying such a vehicle - namely such a price tag.
Sale price is 65k for premier edition.
My historic vehicles have been in 30-40k range.

Damn, forgot that one too. Add it to my list of complaints.

I must be lucky. I have a 2011 Tahoe with 85K miles....no dash cracks and two working day lamps.
