Me and my dad are best friends. Why would I ever consider it?

Pop is 62 and would still beat my arse. He is an inch shorter, but has 60 lbs on me. Plus that old man strength.

You wouldn't consider it, and from the looks of the average late middle aged man in America, these dads aren't that tough anyway. But every dude loves to imagine his dad being a badass.

Not my dad. Last winter my mom had a bad reaction to tamiflu and had a psychotic episode. She's sweet and kind, has never said a mean word to anyone. I'm a foot taller than she is and outweigh her nearly a hundred pounds, and it was all I could do to restrain her and get her to the ER, with help from other family members. In the ER it took four nurses to hold her down. I had claw marks all up and down my arms.

24 hours later, she was fine, and has had no more problems. Fortunately, she has no recollection of anything that happened. It was one of the most traumatic things I've ever experienced. I'll never take tamiflu.

I don't consider myself tough, am over fifty but, you young boys underestimate the value of a solid punch. I hope at this age I still have one but would prefer to never find out on my son.

These threads are always entertaining .. Especially when the "my dad could beat up your dad" crowd wanders down Exaggeration Blvd. describing ole daddy ..

I'm thinking the opposite. I'll be 51 when my son is 16, I worry he might be able to kick my arse by then. He's taking Karate with a bit of Jiujitsu and I'm getting old.

I know, right? We've got karate master, golden glove winning, 6'4" 240# chiseled chunks of badass muscle spitting out little OT babies. I'm most impressed by the leg sweep story. I'm picturing you as Johnny from Karate kid and you father as the Cobra kai sensei. And that's not meant to make fun. That's the ultimate father son relationship. F*ck Mr. Myagi and his pussy parenting style. Johnny wins in real life.

When I was a teenager I was a huge pos, tried quite a few times and ended up on the floor faster than I could blink. Dad's have special powers, I'm pretty sure when he's 70 he will still be able to beat my arse, just because he's my dad

Last time I had to kick my dad's arse, I was 11. I've matured since then and now use my words.

Here comes another to add to the pile:

My dad was Airborne from the Pacific theater. So throw that in the hopper.

He projected old man strong.

I don't have any beating or fighting with him stories, he was pretty chill.

He did apologize to me on his deathbed that he never took me or taught me to hunt. He explained that once he'd had to hunt people that it forever ruined the sport of hunting for him.

I told him that was OK, that I liked hunting OT 9s better. (In so many words)

My dad beat me with a belt until his arm got tired once. He later told me that there was just no way he could make me feel pain.

I've never had a problem with him since.

Never, although I wanted to a couple times.

Dad is 6' and about 185 pounds of solid muscle. Naval Officer until he retired a year ago. Two tours in the Middle East following a year at the Pentagon post 9/11. Trained with Seals, graduated flight school (never flew actively), Marksman in all weapon classes and one of the most intimidating people i've ever met. He had been instructing an EOD squad on the west coast for the past few years.

He told me once that there are certain things about his military career he cannot yet share with me and some he never will. This was told to me the only time I have ever seen him cry, the night he and my mom finally called it quits.

My friends, to this day, are convinced he is an assassin. I've been inclined to believe it myself from time to time.
