I'm talking pre-Defender.

What was your experience?

Old British vehicles are notoriously reliable, particularly their electrical systems

Usually French or Spanish.

Known for their reliability.

You better get used to working on the side of the road.

Nothing that old. I've owned a P38 4.6 HSE. It was a 2002 and extremely luxurious inside and drove like butter. Nice wood grain interior with rich leather. I had zero issues with it and got complements all the time. I had billstein shocks that replaced the air suspension and a 1.5 inch lift.

I really want a 97 Defender 90. Great resale value and way more reliable than the Pre-defender.

The only reason they are still around is because they are made out of aluminum. They don't run, though.

The steel that Rover used in the frames of old Land Rovers is of such quality that you'll never think of England in the same way again.

And the electrical systems were produced by Lord Lucas, Prince of Darkness.

Yes a 1973 series 3. Cool truck. It is very slow (55 mph tops) which made it unpractical. I did not have any major problems. Had to work on the brakes a few times. Engine and drivetrain were solid. It was completely stock. Body is aluminum but frame is steel unless updated with aluminum frame. Have it checked out very closely before purchase.

Anyone who owns one of those should be named Nigel.

Never tried it. Mine had a safari roof that was an additional strip of aluminum over the main roof. Kept it much cooler. This truck is for off road use only or ver short on road trips. I sold it and bought a 1997 Defender 90. Much better on road manners due to the power and more comfortable.
