That's also a possibility. I'm just exploring my options.

Its got dings, hail damage, scratches. So anytime we have to go to the airport to park, this is the car we take so that we don't worry if it gets hailed on, bumped into, etc. in the airport parking lots.
Sorry that I obviously overestimated both your situation and your wisdom.

Had an 89 when I lived in Japan. Thing had a 2.0 diesel that was a beast. Would trade my current 2016 Skoda for it 1 for 1 if I could.

I have a 2021 TRD Off Road model.

Love it. It drives well and is comfortable. I like the styling. Rides pretty well. Decent power.

The problems: Driver’s side head rest rattles slightly. Entune is dogshit. Locking rear diff doesn’t seem to work.

I used to have one. I miss it. Shouldn't have sold it.

Just bought one after the snow storm this year. 2020 SR5 4WD with a very nice interior and weather tech mats included. TRD tires and lining inside the 4runner from previous owner.

LOVE this vehicle. I live in Dallas so it's easier to get around with it compared to the 04 chevy silverado I had.

Gas mileage sucks but it's actually better than my old car. Interior and gadgets are fine nothing special but I bought it so I can drive it for 15 years and I can upgrade any part I want to make it nicer.

Get a GX. It is more capable and has a V8.

I own a 2016. Don't buy it for gas mileage. I took it to the top of Black Bear pass last year on an overlanding trip.

I've owned numerous Toyota's, very durable vehicle.

I agree with this. It drives better as well, and is around the same price.

What’s your budget and needs? Because there’s also the Lexus gx out there in the same ballpark. Maybe a few years old but give me that over the 4Runner any day.

I think the GX is actually cheaper than a TRD 4R. You get the V8 and a nicer but equally dated interior. The biggest down side to the GX is that you'll blend in with every other soccer mom in the carpool line. They look at me super weird because I'm in a soccer mom mobile with 35MTs.

2007 with 180,000. This was my wifes daily driver until she got a different SUV. It gets used in bad weather.

The TRD and TRD Pro 4Runner will go a lot farther off road than any standard GX. The Lexus is more comparable to the 4Runner Limited in that respect, which certainly is very good...but it's not comparable to the amped up TRD/TRD Pro. The 4Runner has Carplay to boot, which for some reason Lexus does not have.

The GX has a far better engine though, and I think it does ride a bit better. It completely trounces the 4Runner on interior comfort. There is no comparison on the inside. The Lexus is far superior. The GX would be a hot seller if it had a little bit more modern technology.

They'll both last forever if maintained.

I suspect the used car market will calm down once companies start delivering new models again.

I didn't get that you were looking used.

Although, I wouldn't bank on a vehicle like the used 4Runners going down too much either way.

That's my concern. When I thought about getting an SUV, I realized that its hard to find one that doesn't look like a lady-truck. I wish chevy would make a real Blazer, or Dodge would make a Ramcharger again.

The 4Runner - specifically the TRD Pro - interests me.

I have a base SR5 4x4 I bought new back in 2016. Brought it in for oil change at the 100k mark and asked the guy who services my car what I should look at replacing to get ahead of schedule and he laughed. He told me "Don't worry about maintenance for a while yet". My 4wd is great and I imagine the Pro is a couple levels better. I do think that rack they come with is kinda goofy though.

Yeah, I'm noticing that. Seems to be the same with the Tahoe. I'm tempted to pick up this Nissan Xterra Pro 4X I saw online, and just drive it until the wheels fall off.
