My boss has a few Mongoose BMX bikes. He has a used one that he found on Craigslist, and 3 other ones new in the box.
Never been ridden, but I'm hoping he'll let me go off some sweet jumps one day.

Peasants….Had a Hutch. Was prized possession of my youth. Mom gave it away when they moved to LA.

I still have my 1975 Yamaha Moto-Bike (like the one shown) in my garage and a decent amount of spare parts. Never got around to restoring it. It was a Xmas present in 5th grade. $120.00 brand new. Most expensive Xmas present I ever had up to that point (therefore, the only present I got that year).
These weren’t very good for bmx racing because they were too heavy. Only made them from 74-76, I think.

Those things are sick! If you restore it I suggest just cleaning up the parts… unless the rust is eating away at it. Imo they are cooler the more original they are.

A buddy of mine busy sells and restores BMX bikes. The prices of some are insane. He just got more for a Dyno Air than I got for my 78 CJ7

No rust, but I used it as an easel to spray paint a school art project for my younger sister and it has some black overspray on it.
About 25 years ago I went back to the Yamaha dealer where Santa bought it and bought all of their spare parts for $75. Got a couple of rear shocks, one front fork, and a bunch of smaller parts. I bought a few missing items on eBay, but they are expensive.
I bought a motorcycle when I turned 14 and I took the front forks apart on the bicycle to see what was in them (spoiler alert: a spring). I lost a few of the small parts, the most important of which is the large nut that holds the front steering assembly to the frame. Cannot find one online.
ETA: a few of my friends also had one. The chain guard was the first thing to go. They were a little flimsy but they were perfect at feeding the bottom of the bell-bottom pants into the sprocket and getting stuck in the chain. The chain guards are hundreds of dollars if you can find one on eBay.

Do you not have a woman?

I am a member of a vintage bmx website, if you want I could try to hunt it down or at least see if there is a website that sells them. I am sure it is possible to find still. There is a big community for these bikes and as stated above, some of them do certainly sell for a lot.

I had the original early 80’s loop tail with Landing Gear, CW bars, and Tuff Wheels. Was holding on to it for a son - but had two daughters (no pics).
LSS - sold it about 5 years ago for thousands on eBay.

I had a Mongoose Californian, i think the model year was 1984.. Receiving that as a gift still ranks up there as one of the best days of my life.. Upgraded a couple years later to a Redline, and it was nice- but there’s nothing like your first, and that Mongoose was special.
My parents have home video of the Christmas my brother got his first bike. He was so excited, it is great to watch even now.
