it’s a concept where people from all backgrounds and geographic locations seem to have very vivid memories of events that have no recorded historical backing

Many people apparently have vivid memories of Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 80s (this is slightly before my time so doesn’t resonate with me). He died in 2013.

For me, apparently book Berenstein Bears is actually BerenSTAIN Bears. I would have bet anyone it was Berenstein.

Berenstain vs Berenstein

Another is many people seem to remember a movie called Shazam with the character played by Sinbad, which doesn’t exist. Many people think they are just confusing it was Kazam played by Shaq but some claim to remember both.

Anyway. Just spent an hour on an internet dive looking into it. Neat topic

Just sounds like not everyone remembers things correctly, which is obviously true. I dont see anything unique or special about it.

I vividly remember a nearly identical thread being posted 2 years ago...

It’s crazy...I remember a thriving country in Africa, an absolute breadbasket where seas of fertile grain had been coaxed from the heretofore barren land by brave Dutch settlers
The cities were modern, the economy was booming

But now...when I look at the map, instead of Glorious, Prosperous Rhodesia, I see this shithole country where inflation is rampant

The crops are failing

And the government is infested by corruption and incompetence.

Crazy huh?

That sounds familiar. Like something I’ve heard of before.
