Only non-essential people get off for these meaningless "holidays"

I do, I work in trucking/logistics where the majority of our customers have no idea what Mardi Gras is. What makes this one a bummer is our local customers are working today and off tomorrow, and our out of state customers are off today for President's Day, and working tomorrow. So we'll be working both days, and both will be fairly uneventful.

Yes, I'm an essential worker. I'm off on Fridays though.

My wife is off work today and my daughter is out of school. I meant to take today off but forgot to put it on my calendar so I ended up with two meetings on my schedule for today.

The office is technically closed today, but we're about to mobilize for a large project, and I wanted to get some things done while there is no one here to bug me.

Probably head home around in an hour or so.

Tomorrow we're off.
