Do they have to wear a mask? I got the girls school's plan yesterday and today and both schools are making them wear mask ALL day. :/

This is the only thing I do NOT like about sending the kids full week, masks are req all day and not allowed to have a face shield to breathe better, cloth masks or medical masks only

shite my 13 year old loses so much crap during the school year. Last year it was her lunchbox THAT HAD HER NAME MONOGRAMMED ON IT!!! How do you lose your lunchbox. Literally you take it out at lunch then put it back in your locker. I can't wait to spend 48935734 dollars on masks.

Get them a light weight fishing gaiter. They make them in kids sizes. Much more breathable.

I’m sure there will be some teachers who have mercy on the kids and will let them pull the masks off/down during class. I find them hard to breathe in but just ordered some new ones that claim to be ore breathable. My kids don’t seem to mind wearing them, but then again, I don’t take them to stores or many places where they have to if I can avoid it. I doubt they would do well wearing it all day.

St. Michael High School is full speed ahead, opening Aug 10. Principal sent 12 page PDF handbook addendum yesterday with protocol.

Yeah mine has two monogrammed lunch boxes that he lost for half the year. I made him bring his lunch in Kroger bags and/or brown paper bags. He decided to look through lost and found and what do ya know? Found them.

They all lose their fleeces with their monogram. And it gets pretty cold here in the winter so that is problematic.

Our local school systems just went virtual only for the first nine weeks.

The majority of parents are pretty disappointed with the decision, but what can you do.

I get the feeling that catholic schools are going to press forward even if someone tests positive. Unless there’s some massive outbreak. From everything I’ve read, it seems they’re doing all they can to prevent losing admission by going virtual, because at some point parents aren’t going to pay 10k/year for online school, with a parent having to be home to facilitate/homeschool.

I think it is any private school. They kinda have to keep going forward in person unless we drop back to Phase 1

Private schools have the luxury of having the funds to afford appropriate protections for their teachers and to be able to limit their enrollment so they can legitimately social distance.

Private schools operate on much smaller budgets than public schools.

I have not heard of a single private school limiting their enrollment to meet social distancing guidelines.

Doesn’t matter. As soon as a few kids test positive, people will panic and everything across the state will be moving to all virtual. I give it 4 weeks.
Why do people keep saying this?

Daycares and summer camps have handled positive tests just fine

The private schools will be just fine this school year

Because while parents won’t freak out, local, state, and federal government will.

Very true. We are about to move to a home that happens to be in the best public school district in WLR; we have every intention of using catholic schools for all our children, but if they do go virtual we very well may switch to public. We aren’t going to pay extra to get the same online curriculum we could get for free.

Or we will start hiring teachers to teach groups of kids a few days/week. Moms on our schools fb page are already talking about that.. and I know the administrators of our school read it.
