Anyone have solid details for their kids school plan yet?

We have the option of going to school full week or remote learning. We will be sending ours to school. You can, at any time, move to remote learning, but kids who start remote have to wait until the next quarter.
Besides this, I do not think they have a clue yet and it seems like it will be starting soon. I wish state health and education departments could come to a conclusion and stop dragging parents, teachers, and districts around by moving the goal posts all over the place, dramatically.

My kid will definitely be going to kindergarten a few days later than originally planned. I've known that for about a week now.

Got both plans for my kids in email. One yesterday and one this morning. Basically an addendum to the handbook for the school.

We have been told school will start with all students on 8/12 with some additional safety measures put in place.

Nah, just gonna wing it. Private school hasn't wavered from their plan as of yet.

Kids will be going either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday with everybody
online only on Fridays. Basically, we’ll be paying full-time tuition for part time school.

Yeah, im pretty jelly of that. I live in a rural area so there arent many, but honestly thinking about sending my kids to one about 30 mins away. They are treating it as it is a normal year.

We are at catholic school in Little Rock. They have, in my opinion, the best plan in place that I’ve heard of. I believe this will be private school’s time to shine. And all of our teachers are thrilled to be going back and express that frequently on social media. None of the garbage I’m seeing from public school teachers in LA. Glad our teAchers love their jobs and our kids.
Remote learning is an option; they had a great set up in spring (for as short notice as they had) that they’ve said they’ve worked all summer to improve upon.
We are taking in person option, which is everyday. They have to be seated 6 feet apart facing teacher when possible. They will not congregate to cafeteria for lunch, if they eat school food they will have a boxed meal brought to classroom and will eat there. My son brings his lunch. Art, Spanish, and music teachers will come to the children’s classroom instead of the children going there. They also have to wear masks in hallway. Water bottle refilling stations have been installed by classrooms (where They didn’t already have them), and recess will be with their class only.
Carpool will be extended by 20 minutes to allow for daily temperature checks, which I foresee as being the biggest PITA everyday, but alas.

Doesn’t matter. As soon as a few kids test positive, people will panic and everything across the state will be moving to all virtual. I give it 4 weeks.

We're full speed ahead opening. I'm mostly worried about how they will react once a student or teacher tests positive. I don't know that there is a plan for that yet. As long as we don't freak out about it I think it will go smoothly.

I also meant to add that our school sent home a waiver basically signing away our ability to sue them for Covid. Come at your own risk!

Do they have to wear a mask? I got the girls school's plan yesterday and today and both schools are making them wear mask ALL day. :/ Other than that our plans look like yours.
We signed waivers too.

quote:No I don't think so. No one wants to pay tuition for virtual school if we can enroll in public and get the same thing for free. I imagine they will let the class know someone tested positive and they will have to deal with it like any other virus that hits a class.

Private schools have the luxury of having the funds to afford appropriate protections for their teachers and to be able to limit their enrollment so they can legitimately social distance.
If you want to shame someone, shame those making the plans for teachers to return but not providing a safe environment for them to return.

I'm fine with that. As long as they're not testing vaccines on my kids or intentionally sticking coronavirus up their nose.

Public schools in LA get around $11,000 per student. That would get you into almost every private school. If they don't have as much money maybe it's their own fault.

Yes, they have to wear masks in hallways and “general” areas when they’re in those. They are sending us masks to to work their uniforms. My son can’t even keep up with his fleeces and sweaters, can’t wait to see how many masks we go through
I’m not trying to shame anyone but the teachers I’ve seen complaining have been doing as such since last year. They’re the ones who already complained and whines about their jobs to begin with, so to me this screams “I don’t like my job and don’t want to work to begin with”. I can understand that. Get another job elsewhere or leave the profession.
