My sister in law is a lesbian. Her parents are very traditional and were pretty upset about it at first, but they are both career women that have their shite together. So they got over it, and now we are one big happy family.

Does anyone teach their kids that it's not ok to be gay anymore? Or am I the only one?
I believe having them grow up in a home with 2 parents where men do manly things and women do womanly things helps as well

Distant cousin of mine was gay, became pretty successful and ended up dating one of the dudes from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. We had a family reunion one year, and while most people there were pretty devout old school Catholics, everyone just thought it was a cool that a celebrity showed up

No, don’t think so. Think that generation is behind us. It’s actually pretty awesome how “open minded and non-judgemental” these young children are today. Sometimes I say things in front of my children that aren’t even racist and they start lecturing me.

To actually address the OP: I have a younger cousin who came out as a lesbian a few years ago. The family collectively lost its shite, accused her of tearing the family apart, etc.

No, but just as earthshaking, a niece married a fundamentalist Christian. Converted.
Was astonishing at the time. Family of Jews, most practice eastern or new age spiritual processes.
Now 20 years later, divorced, no apparent interest in any religion, family, her own children or spiritual life.

Already had that discussion. Told her if any one of em turns up with the gay, I’m suing her arse for nondisclosure. I didn’t find out how rampant it was until after we were married.

One of my sisters is a Democrat. Really shocked most of the family. I don't think my mom has gotten over it to date.
