Anyone have experience with getting a neighbor to cut down a tree?

My neighbor has a few pines about 50 feet tall.
I’m want to talk to them about cutting them down. Anyone have any success with this?
How much should I expect to pony up?
Plus, anyone know about much it costs to remove said pines?

Have to ask, why do you want them cut down and why should they agree?
This just seems odd

Buy his property. Otherwise, mind your business.

We need more information. Why do you need his trees gone? Is it pouring pine needles in your pool or something?

All I can gather from this is that there is a guy out there with 50 ft pines and a shitty neighbor.

This depends on multiple variables such as the proximity of homes and the type of equipment needed.

If they're healthy trees and he has no interest in having them removed? Expect to pay the entire bill.

I wouldn't think of asking a neighbor to cut down a tree, with one exception. If the tree is diseased or termite eaten and looking like it is going to be a hazard by falling, then I'd approach them.
Now, if the tree has branches on your side of the property, they are fair game and you can cut them all you want, but don't expect your neighbor to like it.

I'd just wait till he goes to work and have a tree company come take down the trees you want gone. Make sure it's all cleaned up before he gets home. Then deny everything when he asks you about it. Or fess up, because it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

That would be a very expensive route to take, was in an accident that damaged someones trees and the bill for them was pretty stiff as you have to pay actual replacement cost, that would be steep here.

No you can’t. It’s against the law.

Obviously, I was joking. But seriously... if you are in a accident and somehow you kill their 150 year old huge oak tree (OK, it was a REALLY bad accident) you'd potentially have to pay them what the tree would cost to replace?

I do not think you are correct on this

I have 5 pines about 50ft on the edge of my property and would gladly let my neighbor pay to have them cut down and stumps ground. I hate the things but I’m to cheap to mess with them.
If your my neighbor come in over and I’ll give you the ok.
