This thread was supposed to be about stories about Swaggart. It is turned into a he is bad/he is good thread.
He has showed exactly who he is. He is charismatic, musically talented, and is a tremendous businessman.
He is also a liar, a weakling, a bully, and has no real belief in what he professes. If he was a true believer, he would have never dipped his unit in a bus station skank. It is not just a sin of weakness, it is an insight into who he really is when he thinks nobody is watching.
The fact that he has done some "good works" means jack squat. On the inside, he is still an arrogant flimflam artist.

Then a family member would be wrong since they haven't owned that property in probably 20 years. He lives in CCL.

No one wants the residences, they'd be demo'ed by any purchaser. Swaggart's architectural taste is technically called "Early Neanderthal Nouveau Riche". The existing structures diminish the value of the property. Now the Bluebonnet land has value, but again, the structures on it are problematic.

Back in the late 90's my out of state boss lady was visiting my office. Took her to TJ Ribs for lunch. The lobby was crowed as hell waiting for a table. Jimmy was there with some of his boys. As we were waiting, Jimmy and my boss accidentally backed into each other and bumped butts. They both turned around and looked at each other briefly. Boss turns around and looks at me... I'll never forget the look on her face as she's quietly asking me "was that Jimmy Swagg..." I nodded yes, and she makes this face again like she just smelled a nasty fart. Good times.

Martini, I knew Gerald and all his kids. Small world.
As far as Swaggert goes, he was instrumental in keeping Baton Rouge in the dark ages for many more years than it would have been without him and Ossie Brown. Had he not "fallen" we probably still wouldn't be able to purchase liquor on Sunday's and all the other blue laws would probably be on the books as well.
