Anyone have any experience with Topamax?

The doctor prescribed for headaches. I'm on my second dose of 25mg per day, and I feel like it's messing with my vision. I have a heightened sensitivity to light, and some halo vision/glare when looking at a something bright contrasted against a dark background.

Naw man. Just weed and cocaine for me. I stay away from the hard stuff.

Brain fog, difficulty finding words, and weight loss. Did not keep taking.

My wife used to take it and it worked but caused crazy dreams

I read that it can cause permanent eye damage, so I'm worried that I'm fricked already

That’s an epilepsy medication. I’ve heard the cognitive/behavioral effects can be severe.

You know all those side effects they mention... I had all of them so I didn't take it long and the doctor prescribed something else.

Horrible headaches and weight loss.

My teenage son takes it for his tics, he has tourette's. He's been on it for quite a while. No side effects that we've seen. He also takes prolixin for the tourette's, which causes weight gain, so the topomax helps with the weight gain of the prolixin.
On a side note, tourette's is some bullshite I don't wish on anyone.

Is that a feminine hygiene product?

My wife took it for years, then the generic company switched and she immediately began having problems, until she switched back to name brand. They never could figure out why

Don't waste your time with this. You want to be on one of the anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies like Aimovig, Ajovy, or Emgality.

It sucks and didn't work for me. All the downsides and none of the upsides. I took it for a month before throwing it away. I'd rather power through the daily headaches than be on that stuff.

Gave me a kidney stone. Stopped taking.

It was prescribed to me after a series of bad migraines. It was worse than the headaches. I felt like I dropped 30 IQ points in a few days. Couldn’t concentrate on anything.
I stopped taking it after about five days.

Stop taking it. That medicine will turn you into a mindless idiot. It's nickname is dope-a-max.

Was on it for several years and it did work on my migraines, at first. Then I developed the brain fog and flu-like symptoms everyday (fatigue, achiness, low-grade fever). I weaned off of it and was better in no time. The doc then put me on Zonegran (another epilepsy drug I think) and it was the same story. I'll echo another poster's recommendation of Aimovig. That is a miracle drug.
