I've heard up to a third at times as well. A quarter is conservative estimates.

I don't know. From what I understand the cattle drives were boring but when they reached their destination they were treated like kings. Of course, they would spend all their money in the bars.

I've hears that even in segregated towns, black cowboys were treated differently than other black folks in these towns. They were treated well, as long as they were spending that money.
