I drove through Holy Cross once. Guy took a shite in front of my vehicle at a stop light. It was like 10 am.

Sunday morning I almost hit a hooker crossing the street in her bra and panties.

They actually matched, so maybe she is getting her life together.

What time of day might this have been more acceptable?

I’m viewing a home on Saturday in Holy Cross neighborhood. Is this a not so good area of the city?

Where exactly is this home you plan to view, and not just the Holy Cross neighborhood?

When I was living there, way back when, Holy Cross had their high school near the Industrial Canal and that small area was considered Holy Cross. Since Katrina, I guess developers decided to change the areas name to Holy Cross to include from the Canal to the Parish line and from St. Claude to the river.

Trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear with that move is how I see it.

I lived in the 5500 block of Dauphine St. between Caffin Ave. and Flood St. from the early 50's when my parents moved there until I sold the house in 78.

Here's the crime map for the area since 1/1/2018, filtered for: assault, burglary, drugs, homicide, vehicle theft, robbery, sex crimes, theft, vehicle break-ins, and weapons offenses:

LINK

It doesn't appear to be a hotbed of socially accepted behavior. On the plus side, it looks like only 4 homicides in the past 6 months.

The area has the highest concentration of Entrepreneurs in the south. You’ll be surrounded by aspiring business talent in that area and is home to a very robust street music scene.

This is what was on the MLS when I searched that home.

If you are asking a realtor the majority of your questions, good luck.

Surely you've driven into the neighborhood on weekend nights at the hours you might be returning home. Surely you've talked to an insurance agent you trust. And the crime maps for the past four years are also in your folders on line.

Remember, that realtor will earn a commission selling you the place, and will earn another commission when you contact him or her to sell it in x years.

There is currently a caravan (literally) of transients living out there for one thing. Basically an unofficial homeless encampment. At least there was, as of a few weeks ago.

Just curious as to where they are located in the lower 9th. I pass through that area a few times a month to visit friends and hit Rocky & Carlo's for a meal, but pretty much stay on St. Claude from the canal to St. Bernard Parish.

Every once in a while I'll look to see what sold in that area when they advertise homes sold in the real estate section of the local paper. Last one I saw was in the 6100 block of Dauphine near where I once lived and it went for $225K for a double shotgun. Insane prices for that area.
