Anyone ever used pot for postop pain?

Instead of going the traditional painkiller route has anyone smoked pot instead? Does it work well for pain? Not a smoker so I thought I would ask the OT. Any docs, please weight in.

I find edibles much more suited to pain management, but it is rather strain specific.

Weed is a pretty decent pain med. Helped me a lot after a car wreck when I had busted ribs and the like.

There are lots people who swear by it in a couple of the liver transplant patient groups I'm in. I'd give it a shot if it were legal here. Too much risk for me otherwise.

yes its the best pain reliever and muscle relaxer there is bar none, anyone saying otherwise is ignorant and doesnt smoke so they just want to say weed is bad no matter what
only issues is if you start coughing it can aggravate your wounds and of course its not legal so......
its just a mild pain killer though so keep that in mind, you may still need to take the vicodin, but as muscle relaxer its better then anything in pill form but doesnt last as long as the pills so you need to take a few hits every hour to maintain it

Didn't do it for pain relief but I'm a regular smoker and have smoked while recovering from most of my surgeries. I've never really noticed a painkiller effect but I've known people who swear by it.
