Looks like a great book.
quote:
The book is a reaction to the self-help industry and what Manson saw as a culture of mindless positivity that isn't practical or helpful for most people.[3] Manson uses many of his own personal experiences to illustrate how life's struggles often give it more meaning, which, he argues, is a better approach than constantly trying to be happy.[4] Manson's approach and writing style have been categorized by some as contrarian to the general self-help industry, using blunt honesty and profanity to illustrate his ideas.[4][5]

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck first appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List at #6 for the category of How-to and Miscellaneous for the week of October 2, 2016.[6] and it reached #1 for the first time on July 16th, 2017.[7] As of February 18, 2018, it had been on the NYTimes best seller list for 60 weeks. I have perused it in Barnes and Noble. Looks like a good read but not worth buying, as I was able to glean the point after about 10 minutes.

I always associate the phrase “not giving a frick” with low intelligence trash.

I read it. It's a good light quick read.

Actually no. Lots of stuff about how you aren't special, how nobody owes you anything, how we put too much pressure on BS that doesn't matter, and how happiness is an overrated life goal.
Most people on this board would probably like it, tbh. Trashy title and all.

Read it a year or so ago. Interesting, but basically a Buddhist type of philosophy. Nothing ground breaking, but I did find it useful for framing some discussions with my teenagers.

I enjoyed it. Quick, easy read with some funny stories to support a good concept worth embracing.

That's a good synopsis. I enjoyed it.
