Anyone ever heard a vegetarian worry about "meat contamination"?

I just went to Jersey Mikes and ordered a meat-filled Italian sub.

Guy behind me in line is a 40ish year old scrawny, white hipster. He stops the entire line to ask them to clean the slicer (he wanted "thinly sliced cucumbers"), the knives, and the counter because quote "I'm a vegetarian and don't want any meat contamination". The black guy behind the counter looked at him like he had 3 heads. It was hilarious.

Wtf is wrong with people.

Sidenote: He got extra mayonnaise slathered all over it.

Any purpose for telling us he got extra mayo?

my wife was into that for a while, now she dgaf.

but it does piss her off when my mother will make a dish and just remove the chicken from my wife's portion.

my wife isn't really a vegetarian but barely eats any meat, basically only when we travel. she used to be very strict vegetarian.

It has nothing to do with the meat and everything to do with attention

Idk I thought it was interesting considering what mayonnaise is made of and how bad it is for you

Yep.

Big line was held up for a few minutes while they took apart the slicer and wiped the blades.

Yeah, your mother should be more thoughtful when making a free meal for her.

Doesn't mayo have egg whites? Not very vegan.

He also got cheese. So he definitely wasn't vegan. And he announced he was vegetarian.

I paid close attention to his sandwich because I was so curious

I hate people like this. Buy your own fricking cucumbers and slice them instead of inconveniencing everyone around you.

my wife is the regulator on how often we go visit my mother so, my mother might be better off if she was more respectful.

This still interests me. Does your wife get upset because the meat is made with the meal or that a meat substitute isn't provided? I'm just curious what your wife is expecting from your mom.

How do you eat together? I have been to 1 vegan restaurant and I couldn't make it through the kale chip appetizer. I just got drunk on an empty stomach instead. At least they still drink.

He's making a point like people that violently cough when they walk thru people that are smoking. That's my guess. Can NOT be 100% serious about being concerned he's actually consuming 3 molecules of meat.

I don't cough by any means, but I can't help the look on my face that looks like I just smelled a fart. Its just a natural response to that stench
