I totally get it. It is not about being Vegan (even though he profess being one), but sanitation. He is right on contamination if you don't clean the slicer after each use. Any restaurant should have enough food prepped before each shift. However, the regulations governing a local food restaurant is different than a federal restaurant.
Federal Restaurants (Nat'l parks, etc.)- very stringent, inspectors can shut a restaurant down immediately
State Restaurants (Resorts)- stringent strict, but not overbearing
Private- basic, restaurants can be sparkling to rat infested.

Or she shops for and cooks for herself, I can cook for myself as well. Its ok, she's not preachy at me. Its just strange how she'll be making her avocado concoctions and I'll come in with a rare ribeye or extra meaty baby backs.

Yes. Most of the vegetarians I know won't eat anything that was touched by meat.

I would have reminded him that small animals routinely get chopped into the combines when whey harvest grains on the industrial scale.

This sentence makes it sound like you know 10 vegetarians or something. And well enough to know their particular eating habits.

I know them all pretty well. Most of them are from the same household.
The other guy I know will just pick off the meat from a pizza. He doesn't really care as long as he isn't consuming it.

my wife would be fine with a range of things, she is fine being responsible for her own food, which is often the case in the south. What does she wasn't is my mother to say - I will make your vegetarian meal, and then not actually not make a vegetarian meal.
its not that big of a deal TBH, but it does upset my wife when my mother puts chicken in something that she says is vegetarian.
