You got to go. My brother dated one when we lived together after college. I hated he so very much. I’m telling you.... run!

Nurse, I know you are going through something now with your dad. Obviously you don't walk away from family. What about a relationship with someone who is mentally ill? Stay or go? It is draining, but I feel for people who struggle with mental illness.

In a relationship you ultimately have to do what is best for yourself (assuming no children are involved....then children’s best interests always come first).
You can only do so much to help another person. But they have to want the help. You can’t fix them.
It is one thing if the person with bipolar is taking meds and seeking treatment(therapy, etc). That wasn’t the case with my ex.

Fish, you posted a pic of him recently. I didn't know the circumstances. Please don't blame yourself, you seem like a genuinely good man. I know you must miss him terribly. *hugs*

I've done it twice. First time ended with me being stabbed with darts. Second time ended with me having a bloody lip and all of my seizure meds flushed down the toilet.
Sex was always great
Eta: My advice is the same as everyone else in this thread...get out. It'll be constant hell wondering when she's gonna go off next. You can't let her drink. They think they're magically better when they're manic, and that causes them to stop meds. They all do it. It's just a bad situation, and there are plenty more women in the world.
Oh yeah, she'll probably say she's pregnant, or that you beat her once yall break up. Be prepared for that

I am more partial to chicks with borderline personality edisorder. Neither make good choices for long term relationships.
I haven’t dealt with bipolar, but I’ve had a major depression husband and a borderline personality BF. Things are mostly good with the borderline guy (he’s attractive & has a stable, successful life), but when it’s bad, it’s horrible. When this one is done, I’m going to start a Golden Girls style life, since I suck at picking partners.

You need to get out while you can. Your quality of life and own mental health will deteriorate with her sticking around bringing you down.
I don’t mean to be a dick here, but you have to man up and do what is best for YOU. I’ve been there before, and I thought I could help her because I cared about her well being.
Bro, you’ve got to put yourself first and foremost, and let her deal with her shite on her own. She’ll find a guy that can handle her one day.
Whatever you do, DO NOT HAVE KIDS WITH THIS WOMAN.

Oh the horror!! Who looks at that shite? At least someone cares enough to put forth some effort.

It is still rough as if it was yesterday There is not a hour go by I don't think of this. I know my wife and I did everything that we could do to help him. The pain he was in of every day living got to the point nothing would make he smile.
My son would and has gave his shite off his back to the needy. That is what he was like.

Run for your life, and I hate to say this but the weight gain for her is closer than she thinks, it will happen.

If they stay on top of their meds everything is good. If not, you better be a special person or move on.
